FW and golf carts???

I was told that u can rent the carts for a daily price. I was wondering if I were to rent a cart and drive to the bus stop what happens to the cart then? Is there a place to park it and get it later? Will it be stolen? Just wondering. TIA

Re: FW and golf carts???

There are parking spots for the golf carts. I'm guessing you need a key so it should be safe as long as you take the key with you.

Re: FW and golf carts???

Renting a golf cart is a good way to get around, but a pit pricey in my opinion (like $50-$60 per day). They can not be rented for length of stay, they have to be returned every 24 hours.

You can not drive a car to the bus stops as there is no parking for cars except at the Outpost. There are interior buses that run throught FW to get you where you need to go with bus stops at each loop area.

FYI, all the golf carts are the same brand and use the same key, but there is usually not a problem with golf cart theft.

There is golf cart parking at the bus stops. It will be there when you return. My thoughts though, if your going to rent a cart, rent it on a day you will stay at FW and get the most use out of it. To me, it doesn't make sense to rent one and then park it for the day while you are park hopping. JMHO.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

Re: FW and golf carts???

I just got off the phone with FW.. Let me tell you.. They quoted me $400 for my stay. I will not do that.. Heck no.. I rather walk my behind around. I called my DH using this as a good excuse not to stay there and he said back to me It will be ok because we have a rental car to get to the parks.. We dont need to take Disney transportation.. Well he may have me on that.. lol.. Nothing is set in stone that we stay there yet but I like when i called she said howdy. Cute..

Re: FW and golf carts???

I took the bicycles, and locked them up at the bus stop. We also biked at night to the pool for our pre-sleep dip and to the outdoor theater for the movie...

Re: FW and golf carts???

There is plenty of bus transportation to get you where you need to go, really. Besides, if you drive to the parks, won't you have to pay for parking?

Just wondering why you are not wanting to use Disney tranportation? It can be a little slow at times, but it is usually pretty reliable.

We also ride our bikes and there are bike racks all around the campground.

Parking is free is you stay on site. We drive all the time and never had to pay for parking. I hate waiting for Disney transportation at a end of a long day.

Re: FW and golf carts???

Renting the golf carts does get pricey. We used to just get them for a day or two and the rest of the time use our bikes or the buses. Last year we hauled my DM's golf cart down in the back of our truck when we went. My brother and his family also had one in the bed of their truck. Let me tell you, we looked a bit like the beverly hillbillies goin' down the road with carts in the back of the trucks, the misc. supplies we needed for the campsite strapped in and around the carts and pulling the travel trailers.
The golf carts do come in handy, especially on laundry day

Re: FW and golf carts???

There is a bus stop within 500 ft of every cabin and rv tent spot. We stayed in a cabin near the entrance and walked to the boat launch every night (it is about a mile) The big pool is in the middle (with the outdoor theater) and quiet pools are within a 1/4 mile or less of all others.
Golf carts that are rented for more than one day can be kept at your site, there are places to plug them in. They can only be left by the pool, the theater or the two stores, buses at all these, but like I said when you are going to parks bus is near your site.

Im undecided about this. I may have to see how bad it really is then decide when we get there.

Re: FW and golf carts???

From the time we arrive at our camp site, our vehicle never leaves the spot unless we have to go off property for some reason. JMO, the busses are a good way to get anywhere.

We use the busses every now and then. See the problem is that once we stayed at the MK for wishes and it took almost 3 hours to get back to the ASMovies because there was sooooooo many lines and took forever. Parking is free so we take advantage of that. Depends. Now if FW has the ferry boat we would use that for MK

Re: FW and golf carts???

Yes, you take a boat from FW to MK. Buses to everywhere else. The boats are great and hold a lot of people.

I'm sure you will do what is right for your family and situation.

Well dont get me wrong we LOVE the buses.. ITs not Disney without the buses.. But I hate to use them at night. We like to use them during the day.

If we DO stay at FW I will def that advantage of the water boat. I really hope this RV thing works out if not I may look into getting a tent and some cots from the sportings goods store.
