Pop or another Value for a 1 night stay?

I am going to be taking our older son, who's 4, to WDW for the August 31 PPP (!!! ), but we're only going for the one night - fly in on Friday, out on Saturday. DH will be home with our almost 1-year old. This is going to be a quick and (relatively) cheap trip, so we're looking to save wherever we can.

Question: Should we stay at Pop for just the one night? It's the one Value resort we've wanted to go to as a family, but the whole family won't be there. Or should DS and I try another Value resort (and if so, which?) and save Pop for when we're all together?

DS likes to swim, and we will probably take advantage of the pool before we leave on Saturday.

I would do something like the sports & save pop for the whole family, since you said you wanted to do it as a family sometime. How awesome that you taking him! what a great trip!

I would save POP for the whole family. DS would probably enjoy ASMovies. Haven't been to that one but it looks fun for littler ones.

Re: Pop or another Value for a 1 night stay?

I've stayed at the AS Movies and I thought it was okay. It was too much of a hassle with the buses and the like. Having said that, though, you are only there for the one night so you probably won't encounter that problem. If you do stay at an AS he might like the Sports.

My favorite is the POP Century so whichever decision you make you will be just fine.

Becasue you will be there for such a short time, Pop might be more convenient.

Pop is a good choice but for your son's age, All Star Movies would be my bet. I think he will relate to it better.

Save POP for teh whole family! Why don't you show him each of the other choices and see which he likes? Something might jump out at him and then he will really enjoy it when you actually get there! Sounds like the two of you will have some nice quality time!

If you wanted to do POP as a family, try another value! Like NokeyNose just said, why not have him pick which place he wants to try? (that's why I am staying at POP in August! Leave it to a 5 year old.. )

Re: Pop or another Value for a 1 night stay?

Bucking the trend, I say stay at the Pop. You're not in a car, so the parking lots and difficulty of finding close spaces after dark won't matter to you and Pop doesn't share their buses with anyone else. Pop is also closer to DTD, Typhoon Lagoon and all the parks except AK than the All Stars. So what, you've stayed there before, you'll stay there again.

Re: Pop or another Value for a 1 night stay?

Yeah, I'm kind of leaning that way, although I'd like to try ASMovies as well.

Throwing another twist in the works - it may now be a group trip. DH was talking to our neighbors, and she and the girls may decide to come along. The older girl is into the princesses , big time, and the younger one prefers the princes (smart girl!)

For one night, yes go to pop. Congrats on the quickie trip! I think it's really great that you and DS are taking a trip just you two. It's nice to have one on one time with your children...he's going to LOVE it!

Re: Pop or another Value for a 1 night stay?

Oh, you bet! He is so into pirates, too, so it's perfect! We were very disappointed when we realized that our last trip was in between 2 of the parties. One was the night before we arrived, and the next one was the night of the day we left. We didn't have the heart to tell him about what he'd missed, but there were signs of it everywhere.

Re: Pop or another Value for a 1 night stay?

I think DS and the neighbor's younger daughter will end up going as pirates, and the older girl already has her princess dress, so it's perfect!

Re: Pop or another Value for a 1 night stay?

If DS is into pirates, he should enjoy the party greatly. There's lots of "be a pirate" areas for the boys as well as the "be a princess" areas for the girls. They did a good job of creating lots of activities. Be prepared to buy some pirate clothing articles so DS can really get into the mood.
