Icon2 Arcade at Polynesian

Kids love the arcades and pools at resorts - some better than others - Contemporary is best I've seen in arcades - what is polynesian like - anyone know????? Thanks for helping.

Re: Arcade at Polynesian

It's not as good as the one at the Contemporary. It's small with a dozen or so games but nothing great. It would be worth a trip on the monorail to the CR if your kids want a really nice game room.

Re: Arcade at Polynesian

Yacht/Beach has an arcade that is probably equal to the Contemporary. I'm trying to picture the Poly's, but I'm drawing blank. I'm probably driving up for the preview of Laugh Floor at the end of the month. I'll try and swing by the Poly and get an opinion for you. PM me close to the 30th just to remind me.

Re: Arcade at Polynesian

We stayed at the Poly this past January, and we go to the arcades to relax and have fun. We were very unimpressed with the arcade there. It was very small and a lot of older games such as Pac Man (not that this is a problem for us older kids). But compared to the Contemporary or Y&B, would rate it poor.

Re: Arcade at Polynesian

When we stayed at CBR in '05 we stopped in the arcade our first night and boy did we luck out. They were letting the kids play for FREE that night. It was OK, and sort of crowded. The arcade at CSR in '06 was bigger and cleaner. But I think ANY arcade for my 2 boys is good for them. I'd rather not spend so much time in arcades with them - they never want to leave!

Re: Arcade at Polynesian

The Polynesian's arcade is nothing to write home about. It has a few games...nothing super fun that would keep you in there for hours or anything, but enough to entertain the kids for a little while. I lost two bucks in there on games that weren't marked out of order and could not get my money back...users beware. Never had that happen in any WDW resort and my DD is in the arcade at least once a day.

Honestly, I wouldn't mind if there was an "Out of Order" sign on every game in the arcade. Can you tell I really don't like arcades?

I give my DD $5....she has that and only that to play in there with for the entire day. I don't go in with her...I sit outside or in the room. That way there is no begging for more. $5 lasts about 30minutes maybe 45minutes if they are REALLY good..lo Last trip she was only given $20 for the entire day and chose not to spend it in the arcade...lol You have to ration them..lol

Re: Arcade at Polynesian

Can't comment on the arcade, never been to it. But the volcano pool is great, and the adults can escape to the back where the jets are and just relax; the kids just love that slide. Captain Cooks is good for a quick meal. We normally have an easy dinner one night from there, get a table by the pool, and stay at the pool until we are kicked out.

My kids still don't know there are arcades at WDW. Every time we stay at PC, they ask "What's in that room?" (the arcade), and I respond, "Oh, stuff we don't have time for."

We've been known to do that a time or two. Now that Nathan can read we can't do that so we make sure he gets to go and understands that it isn't something we are going to do a lot. Last summer the arcade was so far from our room (SSR) it was like it wasn't there so I don't think he ever made it over.

The trips my DILs go Nathan spends a lot of time in the arcade becasue grandpa can't say no and Nate knows it.

Lucky you! Do you think they will buy that when they're older?

That's a good idea. Give them each $5, make sure older DS has his cell phone on. Me & DH leave the arcade room. Tell older DS...call us when you're out of money.

Re: Arcade at Polynesian

actually, on our last trip, we went to the arcade at the Poly before dinner at Ohana. It was OK, a little on the small side. The kids (ages 8-16) had a good time though.
