Need help on "Plan B"

We're working on our "Plan B" if the Free Dining isn't offered during our timeframe (I'm still hopefully but I need that back-up plan just in case)

We decided we'd do a moderate since there is no way we could afford a deluxe and have to pay for dining too (we won't do without the dining plan even if we do have to pay for it).

I need some suggestions...I keep going around in circles. I like POR but hate

the decor in rooms of the Aligator Bayou section.

We want to be close to a pool since we like to swim almost every night after we come back from the parks.

We've stayed in CBR and liked the resort (not the buses) but we want to try somewhere new.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm lost right now.....

Stay at POR in the Mansions - alligator bayou doesn't appeal to us either but we love the mansion.

Have you thought about renting points from a DVC member?

That's my Plan B if they don't offer free dining. :c)

Points go for about 10-12 dollars a point.

YOu can look up 'DVC Points calculator" and it will bring up a website that can tell you how many points it would take to stay on your specific dates...

I agree, and you'll be close to a pool no matter which mansion you're in. We didn't like the bayou either, but love the mansions.

I know last year with free dining, a moderate would of cost us around 700 for four nights and 4 one day tickets, and if we rented a studio at a deluxe it would cost us about 840. (with no one day tickets to have to purchase)...well worth the price increase to be at a deluxe, but still not as expensive as staying at a deluxe.

We're planning a Christmas trip and POR looks like the best moderate to us.

Is it hard to find someone to rent points from?

The mansions are beautiful but it would be just my luck that I'd request that section and I'd wind up in Aligator Bayou!!!

I don't think it's hard to rent points. You could PM Mickey - he may know someone or have some of his own...also, you could PM SKWAK - he just had a thread on here that said he had some for rent (his are now gone, but he said he had some friends who would rent)

You could also just post a thread that says "Looking for points to rent" and you may get some responses like that. :c)

MIL and FIL are coming with us again this year and maybe we could do a two bedroom villa....If DH will go for that..... He likes his privacy....

We have rented from SKWAK and from WDWJEFF and they were both wonderful to deal with - they do all the work for you.

But, seriously, they are both terrific!
