Smoking rooms at POFQ

Well the other day when I called to verify my reservation I went ahead and requested building 4. It looked like a good location based on the map. Now I just read on allears that buildings 2 and 4 are smoking buildings. I don't know if my reservation was noted as non-smoking or not, but we need a non-smoking room.

We arrive on Wednesday. Should I call the resort directly to fix this? Should I wait until check in at 10pm? Where can I find a direct number?

Thanks!

Re: Smoking rooms at POFQ

Hmm, Julie, I would defintely try to look into it before you go. On my last trip at POR, we were in a non-smoking room in a smoking building ( I think) and the room reeked of smoke. It was disgusting and we had to get our room changed. Unfortunately we didn't discover that the room reeked until 11:00 on our first night, since we had left our bags at the resort and hit the parks when we checked in since our room wasn't ready.

I think ours was an extreme case of someone inconsiderately smoking in a non-smoking room but I wouldn't want to take a chance of that happening to you on your first day so I would try to avoid the smoking building all together.

I think you can find a direct number at the allears website. Deb's Unofficial Walt Disney World Vacation Information Guide - WDW Planning Guide - Walt Disney World

Re: Smoking rooms at POFQ

I found this number for you. The website says that there is one number for both resorts ( POR & POFQ ) . Hope this is correct.
1-407-934-5000

OK, I just checked out another website, & while I DID happen to give you the correct number, There is a different number for POR.
Anyway, hope this helps.

Re: Smoking rooms at POFQ

I wouldn't call at all. When you check in, say nonsmoking rooms please. Easy enough...there are far more nonsmoking rooms than there are smoking. No worries.

Re: Smoking rooms at POFQ

I hate to tell you this but even if you get a non-smoking room you may still be subject to smokers. This has happened to us TWICE! We had a neighbors in POR and (I can't remember where else now....I have to ask my husband).....but they were smoking in a non-smoking room. The smoke was POURING into our room and we called the front desk who told us that there was nothing they could do about it! They said WE could change rooms or they could come over with ROOM SPRAY!

Okay - sorry. That was negative. I'm sure that won't happen to you. We are magnets for craziness.

Re: Smoking rooms at POFQ

That's terrible that they couldn't do anything about it. I think they should have at least called the occupants of that room & request that they stop smoking in a non-smoking room. I just don't understand some people sometimes!

No kidding. Some people

I am sorry, but I don't know if I would go with Dana's (sorry)suggestion.
Call and tell them that you are allergic to cigarette smoke and you need to make sure a room in a non smoking building is reserved for you, since you don't check in until late night

Nothing to be sorry about. Julie, you should do what you think is best. I like Dopey's idea of you mentioning that is MUSt be a nonsmoking room because you have allergies. Call now and have it noted on your reservation. Easy enough.

Erin, you were probably next to the people who were in our room before we got there (we were at POR too). The smell was awful. They came down with room spray first but that was not at all helpful. They sent a bellman with a golf cart to move us because we were moving from the Mansion section to the Bayou section all the way across the resort. When the bellman went in the room to grab one of the bags even he was disgusted. He said they would probably have to leave the room unoccupied for a bit and get everything completely cleaned before assigning it again.

My mom is a former smoker and is more tolerant of a stale smoke smell than I am but this was way beyond that. It really smelled like the previous occupants just locked themselves in their room and smoked for 7 days and never left. Ha.

I have had guests like that here at my place. I asked them to leave. Then I cleaned that entire cottage, washed the walls, the curtains, shampooed the carpets, you name it. The blankets get washed after every guest, so that wasn't a problem, but it took a lot to get that smell out. I am lucky though, all of the cottages have at least 4 windows which open all the way.

Anyway.....back on track- I find it discusting that people do that and so many other discusting things

Re: Smoking rooms at POFQ

I also think it's terrible that somoene would smoke in a nonsmoking room. There are places outside to smoke all over the resorts. WDW is more than happy to give you a smoking room if you want one even if it means upgrading you. They don't want you to smoke in the nonsmoking rooms. Speaking as a smoker, I NEVER smoke where I am no suppose to. (excpet for that one time in the Mk when I thought it was a smoking area becasue people were smoking there and a CM had to ask me to move...how embarrassing that was) I was not allowed to smoke in the 2bedroom villa at OKW and most definately did not. I went out in the courtyard to smoke or out on the deck with the doors closed. I also asked before I did this. I never assume that I can. Not all smokers are inconsiderate to subjecting people to their cigarette smoke. Just like anyone else, there are ignorant smokers just as there as ignorant guests who do not follow simple rules.

I Love you!

you crack me up!
and If my mother-in-law reads this she might be able to tell you if it was my FIL smoking there

Actually, He moved all the way across the lake at Caribbean Beach- moved away from all 18 of the people in our group - just to be in a smoking room-

When you smoke, I guess you should be able to smoke in your room- but I agree---- it sure is stinky when you are NOT a smoker.... I fight my dad all the time!

sorry smokers!
