When is a good time to request a room? I was assuming that you do it at check-in, but it doesn't seem to be the case when I read different posts on here? I already paid for a preferred room at POP, and call me crazy, but I want close to the main pool because my kids are big swimmers and will be spending a lot of time there-I think it will be easier to be close by.

I don't know for sure how POP works, but at the All-Stars I know that the preferred rooms are the ones closest to the main pool?

I think you should call and add the request to your reservation right now...and then even though it is still up in the air as to whether Disney reads them anymore or not, fax your request to POP about 4 days before your trip.

You will be less likely to get the room of your choice if you wait until check-in, so these are your best options.

Thanks- that is what I was thinking- if I wait there may not be many options left.

Yup, exactly. Once you get to POP the room assigner will most likely have already assigned you a room...the person who checks you in may be able to pick a different one for you, but they only have a very small pool of rooms to choose from. Slim pickins! Haha.

It can certainly never hurt to get your request out there as much as possible beforehand. Good luck!

I tried calling, but they said they are having a major (his words, not mine) system problem today and it would be best to call back at a later time. He couldn't get my reservation to come up-he said it was "still searching" and he said it has been like this all day.

well, we have faxed our requests today ( 2 weeks ahead of the date because we know that our travel firm has just released our details to the resort). I do want to call them or email them also so we are going to do that next week also. I don't know if there ever is a good or right time to do this kinda thing. I just know it can't hurt to try.

I called them yesterday and they took all my request info down and added it to my reservation! Hopefully they can accomodate some of it! Good luck with yours!!

If I remember right, and I might be wrong, but I didn't think they accepted faxed requests anymore. I remember reading somewhere that they only accepted phone in request, but it could have been for something else.
Anyway, a couple of years ago we paid for the preferred rooms at Pop and we were very close to the pool. I think you should be fine! Have a great time!!

Silly and crazy as it sounds, right by the pool is where we want to be. I did book a preferred room so it should work out!
