Anybody know the cost of basic food supplies at resort gift shops?
We will be staying at BCV for 6 nights and we will be on the dining plan. So I'm thinking we won't have much need for real meals, but we will need to get milk, OJ and soda (2L). I'm going to bring a box of cherrios, coffee, breakfast bars, and english muffins in our suitcase. So I don't really need to use a grocery service unless the disney prices are so bad, it would be cheaper to use the grocery service. Thanks

Using Garden Grocer will ensure you get exactly what you want/need. You can order your items in advance at todays prices. That way you do not have to depend on Disney's selection and what I think are inflated prices for staple items.

Re: Anybody know the cost of basic food supplies at resort gift shops?
I know about garden grocer and if we weren't using the dining plan I'd jump at using it, but I just need a few breakfast things. There is a charge of 12 plus tip, so say for a gal of milk,a gal of OJ, a few 2L bottles of soda would it be worth it? I looked at the prices of cereal and stuff and I can do so much better at home and just packing them in a suitcase. Anybody know the price of milk, juice, and soda at the gift shops? I mean the large bottles, not the bottles with meals.

Re: Anybody know the cost of basic food supplies at resort gift shops?
Well, I don't know for sure jo-jo, but I took a quick look at GG and their 2liter of root beer is $1.69, a big 96oz jug of Tropicana oj is $5.69 and a gallon of store brand milk is $3.99.
If you only ordered 4 items from GG the Disney prices would have to be OUTRAGEOUS for you to do better after the delivery fee and tip. With a $12 delivery fee that GG charges, that's an aditional $3 per product, making your final cost for soda $4.69 per 2 liter, the OJ $8.69 and the milk $6.99 - and that is before the tip is factored in! We had a wonderful experience with Garden Grocer, but we ordered several things. I'd think it would not be worth it for just a few items. I hope someone has some specific Disney costs for you. ![]()

Just buy what you need from the resort store, honestly, they aren't THAT off the wall expensive. Especially considering you only need a few items. Do you want me to get the BCV's grocery list off of the DVC website? It's lists the prices of most items.

I don't suggest packing food in your luggage....at all. Contact gardengrocer.com and just have it all delivered to your resort.

Re: Anybody know the cost of basic food supplies at resort gift shops?
We've traveled with our own food (minus the milk) when we took the Auto Train in December. The prices at the BCV aren't totally outrageous, but I know we will be using Garden Grocer this November when we fly down.

Re: Anybody know the cost of basic food supplies at resort gift shops?
If you take a cab from airport to resort they will stop at regular (not GOODINGS) grocery and give you 1/2 hour to shop for a very small amount.
At resort milk is over 6 for gallon over 5 for OJ, and 3.09 for 2 liter soda. Plus you will probably need some bottled water, and some snacks for room (or to carry) plus some amenitites!!!

Re: Anybody know the cost of basic food supplies at resort gift shops?
If you were driving, I'd say bring food items from home. I wouldn't want to lug around food in my luggage if I was flying. The handful of $ I'd save wouldn't be worth the extra room/weight in my bags. Are you arriving by ME or town car? A town car will do a grocery stop as well as the taxi mentioned by lhraz...

Re: Anybody know the cost of basic food supplies at resort gift shops?
I buy my milk by the quart at home because we'd waste the half gallon. Publix charges $1.29 for a quart. The half gallon is about $1.79. McArthur Dairies is about $.25 above Publix(Winn Dixie). I think half gallon containers of OJ go from $1.49 up to $2.75, depending on brand and quality. I'm posting this to give you reference as to what we pay at regular supermarkets in Florida.

Re: Anybody know the cost of basic food supplies at resort gift shops?
Thanks for all the suggestions. We will be using ME, so towncar and taxi stops are out. I'm figuring since we will have the dining plan we will be so stuffed we won't need extra munchies and such. As far as taking up space in our luggage, I'm figuring on taking less clothes since we will have a washer/dryer in the room. I'm only talking about a box of cereal, pack of english muffins, coffee, and a box of breakfast bars. Not food to cook meals and such. My family are not big breakfast eaters. I'm more concerend having a little something for my DGD. We can use a snack credit to pick up a box of donuts there, so coffee and a donut is enough for us. Thanks again for checking all the prices.

Jo-Jo, I think you will be TOTALLY fine doing that! The prices for just those few things definitely won't break the bank. HAVE FUN PLANNING!!!!!
