WDW Resort

Does anyone know how big (acre wise) the WDW Resort is? I have friends who are the yuppy (if that word is still used) type who seem to go all over the world, except for our part of the world. I explained all there is to do beside the parks, but did not have an answer to this question,

Re: WDW Resort

I don't know how many acres, but WDW is 47 square miles. That always gets a good reaction from people!

Yep, 47 square miles. It's bigger than San Fransico or two Manhatten Islands. WDW employees 54,000 people.

Disney's bus fleet of 230 busses is Florida's third largest behind Miami & Jacksonville.

WDW has 99 golf holes, making it one of the largest golf resorts in America.

Re: WDW Resort

In acres.. I believe that Disney Company owns something like ... 27,400 acres originally.. some has been added and taken away since then.. but that's a good rough idea in acres.

Of course, remember, not all of that has been developed.

:)

Re: WDW Resort

Yep the original footprint was 27000 acres. Over the years the total acreage has changed adding some (I think some was added for wetlands mitigations, although it may not be contigous to the orignal land bought in the sixties) and the removing some. Celebration took a good chunk, and then there is the Little Lake Bryan area (where the Premium Outlet mall is). All of that acreage used to owned by Disney, in fact there used to be a Cast Member only rec area on the lake. (It may even still be there). I think the undeveloped land is still owned by Disney but it is on the market.

Several other parcells along 192 and other outskirts have been sold off in the last few years.
