Walking from MGM to Epcot
What's the walk like? Does anyone know what the distance is? I know I've heard some people say it takes about 20 mins. other people said they almost died trying to walk it. What is the path like? Is it well lit? Are there any benches along the way? Is it wide enough for several people to walk side by side or are you side stepping when you meet people coming the other way?

Re: Walking from MGM to Epcot
The pathway is just short of a mile. If you walk it fast, you will get winded. If you take it as a leisurely walk, it is no different than walking around World Showcase in distance. The people who say it nearly killed them are the people you see rushing to get from one park to the other. At the leisurely pace, you catch up to them. It is quite funny. The pathway is paved and nearly 10 feet across. Plenty of room to handle a crowd.

Re: Walking from MGM to Epcot
Its actually a lovely walk, we did it last time we were there, and the boys even handled it no problem. We did take our time, but I don't remember it being an ungodly amount of time, either.

Re: Walking from MGM to Epcot
It's a beautiful walk - but if you're trying to race from one park to another I wouldn't recommend it. If you just want to stroll - it's very relaxing. We've done it several times - anything to keep me out of those diesel smelling boats - they make me nauseous.

Re: Walking from MGM to Epcot
It's a nice walk if you're not in a hurry and don't want to ride the boat or take a bus. I would suggest not walking it late at night though. I have seen security on bikes but they are not there all the time.

Re: Walking from MGM to Epcot
We walk it every time and we get there before the boat we were going to get on does! The path is pretty wide in some areas and pretty slim in others!

It's a nice walk, it takes about 20 minutes but it's easy. Take your time and enjoy the view.

Where does it go? Well, I know it goes between MGM and Epcot. But where does it go? Oh, you know what I mean. ![]()

I have never walked it because we were in a hurry but we did follow it in the boat (we could have walked faster probably)..it goes right through the Epcot resorts (Swan, Dolphin, Boardwalk etc.) to MGM..and you enter Epcot from the World Showcase entrance.

Re: Walking from MGM to Epcot
Thanks so much for all the replies. I remember waiting for the boat at the end of night at MGM and having to waiting for about 4 cycles before getting on a boat. That night we could have walked it twice over and still beat the boat we ended up getting on! I knew it was there, but didn't know where to find it. Any body remember benches? Sound like it would be a nice spot just to sit for a while.

Duh. Thanks! We took the boat from Boardwalk to MGM (when we were resort hopping), saw a path, but never put two and two together. Very cool. Thanks.

Re: Walking from MGM to Epcot
Jo-Jo, if you take the moving sidewalk it is a tad faster then walking...shot the moving sidewalk was a secret.

It's an interesting thought especially for the Boomer's that absolutely love WDW. Either that or you'll be running into loads of Segway's around the park. Somehow the Boomer generation won't be riding Rascal's. <g> Not cool enough. Maybe golf carts<g>!! As for the Epcot walkway, we never ride anymore. It's faster (for us) and more fun to walk. Plus we tend to pig out at Disney, we need the exercise. It is very tough in the heat of summer. Last year we took the Monorail from MK to Epcot and walked through Epcot to MGM for lunch at Brown Derby. Even though we had a bottle of water each, we were a bit dry when we arrived for lunch.
