Hello All. I am going to Disney in Sept with a large family. Dh, myself, 4 children(4,4,13,15), and my MIL. We have decided to do two adjoining rooms at one of the moderate resorts. Can anyone tell me which of these resorts would work best with my family. I know my kids would love a big pool with a slide. I have read a few places that Riverside has trundle beds, but the other two do not. However, I have also read that this is mostly an adult resort. I would also like to have an area where my teenagers can hang out when not at a park.
Thanks Mandy |

Re: Carribean Beach, Port Orleans, or Riverside
Hi. Your question is a good one. I'm not sure which one I would go with if I were you. My family always love POFQ. I only have 2 children, but they loved the atmosphere of this resort. It's not huge, which was a plus for us. We have stayed there 3 times. But, since you have decided on 2 rooms, have you thought about POP? My children also loved this one (though it's a value resort). There is so much to do. It's large, but easy to navigate. There are several pools, etc. and other fun activities for kids. Not sure if I helped you at all.......good luck with your decision.....

Re: Carribean Beach, Port Orleans, or Riverside
I have researched all of them. I decided on a Mod simply for the better food courts, arcades, and pools with slides. I figure my teenagers will be hanging out without me, and I want them to still be closer. I had originally thought about Music, but since we are staying a week, I am a bit afraid of the quality and comfort of the value resorts.
Thanks for your help! Mandy |

Re: Carribean Beach, Port Orleans, or Riverside
First of all, welcome to Mousebuzz, Mandy. You'll find answers to most questions and a lot of friends here.
Any of the three resorts you mentioned will fit the bill for your family, I think. All of them have a good themed pool with slides, arcades and fun activities (carriage rides, surrey bikes, boating, etc.) I would not rule out Riverside, btw. Lots of families go there and have a great time. I've never seen evidence that it's more of an adult crowd there at all. Also, the Alligator Bayou section is probably the best location to accomodate 7 people (yes, they do have adjoining rooms). It also has a "fishin' hole" that I believe has a catch and release policy so that's another resort activity that you all might enjoy. This is all a long way of recommending PO-Riverside!! I know you'll have a great time and, again, welcome to MouseBuzz!!

Re: Carribean Beach, Port Orleans, or Riverside
Hi and welcome to MB! I agree with Quakercub. I asked my kids (who have stayed at each of the mods), and they vote for PORiverside. Actually, they loved Coronado Springs the best of all the mods because of the pool. My oldest assured me that Riverside was great, too. The kids didn't care for the Mardi Gras theme of POFQ.

Re: Carribean Beach, Port Orleans, or Riverside
Hi Mandy (I'm a fellow mom of twins also!)
We have stayed at Port Orleans - my kids loved it - absolutely loved it. Great pool, you can rent bikes, you can fish - great resort to just take a walk around. Also, you can get on the boat and go right to downtown disney - which I don't know if this would be allowable for your boys to go over while you are not at the parks. Good arcade. My kids loved going to the foodcourt. Great place to stay - smaller rooms and trundle is really smaller, but smaller child would love it. The rooms are nice - 2 doubles - vanity area with two sinks and toilet/shower in separate bathroom. We really, really enjoyed our stay here. They had the most fun finding the little "geckos" that live around the resort - totally harmless!!! Enjoy!

I would also vote for Riverside, it is the first place we stayed and it is still one of our favorite resorts.

Re: Carribean Beach, Port Orleans, or Riverside
I vote for Riverside; I think it is the most kid-friendly theme, and it has an excellent pool! Plus your kids could always use the pool at POFQ if they chose to...double the options!

Welcome to MB, you'll love everyone here.
Don't know anything about POR, but loads of people here love it. We are fans of CBR. Tried to talk the boys into POR but failed, oh well. Anyway, welcome!!!

Re: Carribean Beach, Port Orleans, or Riverside
We have stayed at Riverside 4 times. We really do love it there. I have boys that are pre teens and they have a great time there. The pool slide is great, the arcade is fun and the food court is nice. I have always feel comfortalbe and safe there with the kids.
We have asked for adjoining rooms with other families that have gone with us and they were always able to accomodate us. It's not mainly for adults - the place is very family friendly. I think you will love it there. I also agree that I liked Aligator Bayou the best over there. Good Luck!

Re: Carribean Beach, Port Orleans, or Riverside
POR def gets my vote. We have stayed there a few times and will be goiung back in a little over a weeks time. We have a 3 year DD. It is for any age and def not for adults only. It is just that it is a fairly peaceful resort and not in any way a 'lively' resort. maybe that's why you have heard this is for adults only? Maybe it is because of the piano bar? I do know that Lots of families stay there and the pools are very nice and the pool facilities at the sister POFQ are equally as good ( infact the slide there is awesome! ). Trundle beds are available at POR but only in the more rustic buildings in Alligator Bayou. Go for lodge 28 if you go this side......very close to bus stop and quiet pool but very close to food court too!
You will love it.

Re: Carribean Beach, Port Orleans, or Riverside
Welcome to MB!!!
We have stayed at all 3 of the resorts thay you mentioned. Our vote woulf be for POR or POFQ as a first or second choice, and CBR as a third. We liked the rooms better at POR, but liked the pool better at POFQ. CBR was nice, just too spread out for us.

Re: Carribean Beach, Port Orleans, or Riverside
We love POR. We have taken our oldest daughter her DH and DS there with us and they loved it. You need to get building 14 or 25. They all have trundle beds so there is plenty od beds for everyone and it right close to the Ol Man swimming pool as well as the food court and boats.
