Pop buildings & rooms

I have been thinking about our stay here. I wasn't going to request any buildings or rooms when checking in, but now I am wondering if I should. I think I want to stay on the top floor and maybe in the 70's building. What does everyone think? Would you stay on the top or do you think it doesn't matter? I just don't like to hear people walking over me. Freaks me out a little for some reason.

Re: Pop buildings & rooms

When we've stayed at POP the last 3 years, we've been on the 3rd floor, and I don't remember hearing the people above us walking around. My MIL says she read in Passporter that the 3rd and 4th levels are better from a noise perspective, so maybe that's why I haven't heard as much on that floor.

Re: Pop buildings & rooms

I've stayed on the top floors before and definitely prefer it. You also won't hear people walking by your door as much. I like the 70's section myself because I can relate more to those icons. I think you've got it all figured out!

Re: Pop buildings & rooms

Did I read that the 70's section is "preferred" section - is that even what it's called? i know we had to pay more for the preferred section, or something, for free dining - regular rooms were sold out already for pop for our week. just curious!

I thought the 60's section was the 'preferred' section.

Re: Pop buildings & rooms

I just looked in my Passporter, and it doesn't say which building is the "preferred," but it does say that the '70s building is relatively quiet.

Re: Pop buildings & rooms

either building is ok for me - I'm just glad we got free dining! heck, I'd sleep in a tent on the lawn if i had to, just to get to go to WDW!! (and, those who know me, know that a tent is not my idea of vacation!)

Re: Pop buildings & rooms

I think a portion of the 70's and 50's are preferred because there are parts that are close to Classic Hall.

Re: Pop buildings & rooms

Just want to say that we stayed on the 2nd floor our last stay and the people above us drove me CRAZZZZY! I could hear running around, toilets flushing, people scooting around in the tub, etc. We had lost kids knocking on our door ( all the doors look alike) etc. I would definitely request the 3rd floor should we stay there again.

Re: Pop buildings & rooms

I am staying there in August and I requested the 50s building (DS loves Lady and the Tramp and he picked POP anyway!) It seems some of the 50's buildings look relatively close to everything, while other areas look quite far. Is there a specific block of rooms I should request to be closer to everything?

Sorry to threadjack...

The 60's buildings are closest to Classic Hall (i.e., food court), but are also closest to the main pool. If you go however, during the fall, (we went Labor Day week) they are plenty quiet. Right now 60's doesn't seem to be available during the free DDP period.

We just booked Pop for the end of September. I asked the cm which building is preferred he said only the 60's is. We requested the 50's building. We wanted standard.

Re: Pop buildings & rooms

I went standard to and asked for 50s too. I'm really excited to try a new hotel out and the 50's buildings look really cool.

OK - we're hitting Pop in August and judging from your posts, looks like we're gonna request the 50's building - on the roof!!! Or at least the 3rd or 4th floor. Can't wait to go. Sitting here daydreaming.....
