OKW vs. BC and BW
Ok, instead of highjacking my own thread I thought I would start a new thread. We are making reservations today, so...There are 8 of us going (down from original 11). We want to get a two bedroom villa so we will all be together. We have looked at Beachclub or Boardwalk and love the walking distance to mgm and epcot. We are also looking at Old Key West. OKW has the most room and in the second room we know that we will have two queen size beds. At BC/BW the second room will probably be one queen size bed and one pullout. All choices have a pullout in the living room area. So, which should I choose...the convience of the walking to parks or the more room and more actual beds? help me, help me!!! I always second guess myself after I think I have made a choice! Also we are renting DVC points and we know we can get a room at OKW, not sure about BC or BW, so this may not be an issue any way. We are going Nov 10-17.

Re: OKW vs. BC and BW
The walking is indeed nice if you are all adults. It can wear the wee ones down.

Re: OKW vs. BC and BW
I dont think you can go wrong with any of those choices. We are staying at OKW for the first time in June. A friend of mine is a DVC owner and they say that OKW is very laid back place to stay... but they usually stay at BW because they love all the people. I know these were not issues or concerns you listed.. but wanted to share. OH.. and she said out of all the DVC choices OKW has the most room.

DW & I are staying at OKW Labor Day weekend and from everything I have read, it sounds like it is a great place.

Re: OKW vs. BC and BW
I think you will really need to think about what you most want in your resort. If I preffered more space in my room, OKW would win hands down. However, BC's location and pool area can not be beat which is why this will be our 2nd year in a row to rent DVC points and stay at BCV. I have heard quite a bit of bad reviews about BW's transportation, so I am a little gun shy about staying there. Also remember that OKW is less points than BCV, so you can save a little money there. Good luck with your decision. I am sure it will be great at whichever resort you choose.

Re: OKW vs. BC and BW
Honestly, these are all very desirable to me... I would be happy with any of them. I tis nice to be able to walk into EC and also to have that Friendship boat service to MGM. But OKW does have those huge beds.
If I were choosing, though, I might pick BC or BW...

Re: OKW vs. BC and BW
We were at the BW in March. No problems with the bus service. I think Wish straightened them out.

Re: OKW vs. BC and BW
I just got back from staying at the Boardwalk and I got to see OKW when we golfed through it. I really liked OKW but Saratoga Springs was much much better for a DVC. Boardwalk was ok but the rooms were small (we are use to the Polynesian rooms that all sleep 5 with space to spare) but out of all the choices you mentioned I would have to say go with Beach Club. I actually like YC better but you did not have that in your choices. I agree that the walk is nice for adults but it is farther than you would realize and getting to MGM takes quite a while. With kids we found the Polynesian to be the easiest by either taking the bus (that does not share with 5 resorts like the BW and BC do) or monorail over in 8 minutes from the Polynesian instead of a 10 minutes walk in the sun or rain.
Again out of your 3 selections I would pick BC. Aloha Steve |

Re: OKW vs. BC and BW
If Epcot is important to you, you cannot beat BC or BW. And BC has the best pool at WDW if you like to swim.
Suite-wise, you cannot beat OKW - everything about their suites is better - more room, better quality furniture and appliances, and the two queen beds in the second bedroom. BC and BW have continuous action with Epcot and The Boardwalk. We also experienced very slow buses when we stayed at Boardwalk, along with the fact that they stop at The Swan, The Dolphin and Y&BC. It was very tedious. OKW is very quiet and laid-back. Not much action - but if you're into relaxing, it's the best. Also, it has the boat to the Marketplace, which is always nice, and doesn't share it's bus with anyone. Personally, we prefer OKW - but I'd stay at any of the DVC properties, very happliy. ![]()
