Anyone book their room a year out ?
Just curious to know if anyone has booked their room reservation a year or so in advance.
Better yet, did you book it and pay it in full ? I was thinking of doing this, any pros or cons? Thanks in advance!!!!!

We booked our rooms about one year in advance and paid the deposit. Then when the discounts came out, we called to have them applied, our rate changed 4 times starting out at 344 and going down to 199. I wonder if you pay the whole thing before any discounts what happens to the money that you would be refunded. Can you leave it there to use as spending money once you get there? That would be cool. I like booking way in advance because then you feel like your plans are pretty solid and you can have fun with all the planning aspects

Any money that is paid in excess of the discounted amount will show up as a credit on your room when you check in. You can, at that time, request for it to be refunded to your credit card or left there to go against anything you charge to your room.

We do about the same thing as Angie. We will probably be making our Dec 2004 reservations in May. Then we just watch out for our discounts. This really makes me feel like we are finally going.

I always like to plan waaaay ahead of time. Before we joined DVC we always made our reservations as early as we could. Now, at 11 months EXACTLY before our check out date I'm making those reservations. I recently took one of those "personality" test things based on colors red, blue, green & yellow. My highest is blue, which is the planner person, but not too far behind that is red, which is the controller person!!! Yep...I make those reservations as far out as possible!!!!!!

We did the same thing as some, booked 2 rooms about a year ago, paid the deposit, then used the codes, paid the balance, with some money remaining on the room. We will just use the money as needed (gift shops).;pirate:

Hi, Gang! I'm sure I'm the only mouseketeer who does NOT understand this... What are the codes? Are you guys talking about DVC or AP's?

Disney releases discount codes throughout the year (such as CFK). Without a discount code, you pay full rate at any of the Disney resorts, unless you use a AAA discount or Disney Club discount, which don't have codes. You will need to have the code when you call WDW in order to get the discount, though, with the AP discount, you usually don't need it, you just have to ask for the AP discount, though a code will be associated with it.
You aren't the only one that is confused. Many people who use Disney travel agents do so because of the codes. They know there are discounts, but don't want to worry about finding out what they are, or when they are released, so they leave it up to the TA.
