Just mom and dad this time!

Hey all Disney lovers!
I will be taking just the wife this time for a one, maybe two night getaway from our five boys. We deserve it believe me.
Im looking to see what resort has a more romantic feel above the others? Nice settings, quiet places, etc.
I have been to every value and moderate resort. Our family has done OKW, WL, AKL, SS. I was thinking something in the Yacht Club, Boardwalk, Grand Floridian type lodgings. BUT, I'm open to all places even the ones I mentioned.
Where do you and your significant other go w/o kids.
By the way, Our other place has always been Portofino Hotel at Universal. If youve stayed there, then you know why its a romantic place. Now, I want to find a place like that, romantic wise, at Disney. Thank you all!

Re: Just mom and dad this time!

We loved The Floridian on our honeymoon,(14 years ago) and probably would never stay there with the children. Nice dinner at Narcossee's during Wishes and the monorail.

Re: Just mom and dad this time!

Thanx Nastory4, I think that would be a very nice place to treat my wife. Anything especially romantic you notice? An errant path? a cozy place? A good place for a drink and quiet conversation?

Re: Just mom and dad this time!

That is fantastic that you are taking your wife. I agree, the GF would be amazing. I have never been there, so I can't give you any secret hideaways, but it is my dream resort.
You will have to do a TR when you get back. My husband and I are thinking about doing a mom and dad only trip next year. I would love to hear about it.
I am sure that you will have great fun, and it is much deserved, with 5 little boys!

5 kids - what am I saying? 5 boys You do deserve some Disney time away from it all

I love the Grand Floridian idea. How much more romantic does it get?

Re: Just mom and dad this time!

FIVE BOYS!!!!! You definitely deserve it!

I can't think of anything more romantic than the Grand Floridian and Victoria & Albert's for dinner. Maybe a pre-dinner couples massage at the Spa would be nice too!

To go another way, I can't think of anyplace more romantic or intimate than a studio suite at Wilderness Lodge. Tell them it's a "mini honeymoon" and ask them for a really secluded suite. My dh and I lucked into one once. It was so beautiful, overlooking deep woods, but we could still see the water. A bottle of wine and some chocolate dipped strawberries. And sit on the balcony to watch the Electrical Lights Water Parade. Tres romantique!

Can I add what a terrific husband you are?

Re: Just mom and dad this time!

We have been without the kids, and it was AWESOME!!!

Our traditional romantic date is to share the crab platter for two at Fulton's, along with some nice wine and a long walk afterward!

Re: Just mom and dad this time!

I think you should also look at the Boardwalk - we just got married there in May and it was VERY romantic, especially at night. The whole area has a ton of little hideaways :-)

I agree with the Poly! Its almost like being in Hawaii. You get that tropical feel all over the resort and the beach at night is so romantic.

Dinner at California Grill is a must. We had our anniversary dinner there last Feb. and loved it! It was very romantic.

Also, I would consider AKL and WL as a great couples retreat too. We love the pool at WL and AKL is a very warm and comforting place to stay. Who knows....maybe it will even bring out the animals in you!

Re: Just mom and dad this time!

Well, anyplace you go will seem like a pleasure since you'll have your hands free!

We've always enjoyed Flying Fish Cafe at The Boardwalk for dinner. Artist's Pointe as well.
