Re: Favorite things about SSR?

The bus service from the resort is pretty good, and the bus service from the parks to the resort is good. But i would not ever take the bus from DTD to the resort again. It took forever! Also the boat from DTD to the resort was a looooooong ride as well. We didn't realize that the boat only stopped at one place for the resort. It was such a long walk from the stop back to our room.

Re: Favorite things about SSR?

The rooms are beautiful, as is the landscaping. The quiet setting at SSRS. The walkway to DTD. How close you are to the outlets and Publix if you need to stock up on food.

We don't use the bus - we take a car. I love driving on Disney property and pretty much know every shortcut.

The spa.

The slide at the main pool is lots of fun too!!

I wish we had walked the grounds a bit more. It's very beautiful. We were just so tired from our time at the park, we drove anywhere we needed to go within the resort.

I agree with the bus to DTD, although in our experience, I find the bus service from DTD to be horrible anywhere.

Re: Favorite things about SSR?

Our room, I forget which building, had our patio facing DTD. At night, it was beautiful to see DTD all lit up. Even at the quiet pool on the edge of the lake you could see all the lights. Me and wifey loved sitting in the pool chairs, drinking coffee as the kids played in the pool. That was our favorite part.

Re: Favorite things about SSR?

Main pool, boat or walk to DTD. Try to get a room close to the main pool so you don't have to walk over the bridge. Have Fun!

Re: Favorite things about SSR?

Great things about SSR

The main pool - although I've never gone in it - it's nice.
The "froggy" quiet pool - which I always go in - love it!
The suites - brandnew and sparkling
The buses - fastest bus service in WDW
The peace and quiet - so nice after a long day in the parks
The walkway to the Marketplace.
Golf - if you're into it.
The Spa

And although I haven't given the new restaurant a try, we read the menu and it sounds good. The setting is lovely.

The important thing to learn about SSR is that the place is HUGE! And plan accordingly - if you've got kids and will be using the main pool alot ask for The Springs location. If you want the beautiful views of the water and want to be a five minute walk from the Marketplace ask for Congress Park. If you want seclusion - The Carousel. (but if you have kids, The Carousel is a LONG hike to anywhere).

Re: Favorite things about SSR?

We loved how close it was to DTD and the walk to/from DTD...we never rode the boats, maybe next time.
Also, at midnight every night Pleasure Island has fireworks. Our balcony faced DTD and even if we were all settled in bed and heard the first "boom", we would all rush out of bed and onto the balcony to see the fireworks!
The kids loved the pool and the adults loved the Hottub!
