I know the Treehouse Villas were a part of the Disney Institute. I also know that a lot of the villas and Grand Vista Homes were ripped out to make way for Saratoga Springs Resort. However, the Treehouse Villas are still there. There isn't much info on the interweb as to what they are currently used for. Which leads me to believe that Disney wouldn't take reservations for them. So, what are the Treehouse Villas used for these days? I'm just curious as I always wanted to stay at them when I was a kid.

They are seriously in need of refurbishment however I have been told by various Cast Members that they are on what is now protected wetlands so they really can't be refurbished. If this is all true, they will soon do the way of the dinosaurs.

Yep - I think we'll eventually see them torn down. Last time we went by them they looked pretty shabby - and a tree had fallen on one of them. I know they use them for international CP people and we were told a couple were used as offices when SSR was being built - but I have a feeling their days are numbered. Too bad - they always intrigued me.

Yes, our boat driver did say that they are being used by the College Program.. let it be said.. they should be torn down (IMHO).. pretty shabby!

In July our boat driver told us, they can not be torn down or replaced because the land they are on are now a "preserve" of some kind and can not be touched! So no big machines can come in, trees can't be touched, etc. etc . . . so they have to left to "go back to nature"!

He did mention that a few are used by the College Program, and the MAIN REASON they stopped using them as resorts, is because there was NO WAY to make them disabled accessible.

I wish my CP days I coulda stayed there!!! EVen if they are run down, they still were pretty cool. Oh well from what I've always heard is they were used as offices... DO you think anyone really knows?? Wdw doesn't really give the full story to their Cm's, so I wonder if there are some folks really living there.

Welp, I cannot back up this information at all but I had a friend who used to work for Guest Services in EPCOT and he was really into all these things. He told me that at least 3 of them are NOT run down at all and are in fact well appointed suite-like rooms. Apparantly these "3 or so" are used to house celebrities that may be making appearances in the parks, staying overnight, etc. b/c they are uber private and security protected. Once again this is just something that somone told me, I have no idea if it's true or not but they did specificially mention Regis Philbin staying there.

I have no idea what's going on with them, but it's interesting to hear the different ideas about them.
