Good afternoon. I was wondering if those out there with DVC's could help me
My parents bought a dvc about 8 or 9 years ago and the whole family uses it.
Well my mom said she banked some points and i asked to use it in December for 3 days but she said she cannot request the room until 60 days before the last day of our trip is (she said due to the fact she banked points). Is this true? i am just not sure she is really sure about that.
seems strange to have to wait till 60 days before. I am so worried i will not get a room. We are going the first week in December so i dont think it will be super busy but i love to have things all planned out. So far i have the plane tickets the dinner reservations , etc. but no room reservations. I am biting my nails.
So if any one can comfirm this i would greatly appreciate it. thank you to all

Not to doubt your Mom but that does not ring true and I have never heard as much. I could be wrong but I read quite a bit about the DVC so I bet I am not. I would call the DVC to get some clarification.

Someone needs to call member services right away and confirm that 'cause I've never heard such a thing. That doesn't mean it's not a rule, I just never heard about it. Regardless, December is only 3 & 1/2 months away so I would call just to be sure. You don't want to sit around waiting, have it turn out that it's NOT the case, then be out of a room. Have her call, it can't hurt to ask.

I am a DVC member and have banked points.I have never had to wait to use them. The rule is, you can book up to 11 months out for your home resort and 7 months for all others. Call member services 1-800-800-9800.

Well i called memebr services and the lady was very very rude.
i told her it is in my moms name (i am 33 years old) and i just needed a question answered not specifically on her account just a question and she said no only members can use that phone #. i cant believe how rude she was. i need to get this question answered. i just dont want to keep asking my mom if she is right because she has alot on her plate right now Does anyone have a hand book from DVC. here is what happened they were going to go for a full week in March 2007 and m grandfather became very ill so they cancelled 4 days of that trip and only went for 3 days. Well she bank those points that she did not use. Does that make a difference? before we have always been able to do what XQIXX said with reuqesting it 11 months ahead

If you change or cancel a vacation 30 days to one day before arrival your points go into a HOLDING ACCOUNT which is different than banking your points.

That must be what she did. When your points are in a holding account you can make a new reservation during your use year but you must make it 60 days or less from your new check in date.

I dont believe so but you do have to use the points in the holding account during the use year or you lose the points.

I would call and try to make a reservation and see what happens. I would just make sure someone can use those points before you would lose them, that would be a shame. Also, I don't know when you are going in December but I would call ASAP. When I made my reservations months ago I had three different reservations just trying to get 6 nights, one night in a studio, one night in a one bedroom and then back to a studio. Finally got one room after weeks of being on the wait list.

I would definitely have your Mom call again. Many times it seems like if you call three times in a row you get three different answers at WDW. If it is a rule, can she make a reservation using non-banked points and then switch at 60 days?
