what would you do, preferred or non preferred

I have a trip booked for November 10-17, pop century, preferred. I wanted preferred to get close to the bus stop - I am 50 years old, and somewhat overweight, so figured would be better for after the parks.

with the new special for Visa card holders I called and was offered a couple choices.

Pop century, only non preferred available - savings of $374 (I do want a King bed, can I get that with non preferred?)

or change to AS Sports, preferred - savings of $280

which of the two would you stay at, or keep my original reservation?

Re: what would you do, preferred or non preferred

I would go nonpreferred and save the money at pop century. I wouldn't go to sports. As for king room, it's a crap shoot. You can request it, but it's not guaranteed.

I would also go non preferred. Malking to the bus stop is not that bad from any part of pop. Put the little extra money towords other things.

You could ask for a disabled room, if you have a hard time walking?

Once, we had joining rooms with my Parents at POP, and theirs was disabled (they didn't ask for it or need it, they were just given it) and it had a King Size Bed and a walk in shower??

You could call and ask about it??

Dana is right you should go for the cheapest. And plus you will have more to spend or save if you go that route.

Non-Preferred. Unfortunately the preferred rooms at POP can sometimes be just as far away as the non-preferred rooms. We have stayed at POP 5 times and had regular rooms all five times and we've been very happy.

Re: what would you do, preferred or non preferred

I did book the non preferred, actually saved $490 (since my room was reduced from preferred to non preferred that was an additional $100)

I would not ask for a disabled room - save that for someone who actually does need it. I just figure, out of shape and all, that I might really hate the extra walking after 12+ hours in the park!

but, there is no physical reason that I cannot do the walking. I figure I'll request when I check in if they have any non preferred by the bus stops, can't hurt.

Re: what would you do, preferred or non preferred

I would stay at Pop Century over AS Sports. I think you will enjoy Pop alot more.

As for preferred rooms ~ we didn't do preferred our last trip and were in the 70's building ~ just a short walk to Century Hall. I can however see it being a problem if you were in some of the other buildings.

You might want to consider how much you want to walk. You can request a certain building, but they cannot honor the request all the time, esp. if it's busy.

$374 is alot of money to save, too. I would walk the extra steps for that kind of savings and stay at Pop.

The BEAUTIFUL thing about Disney is . . . if you tell them your needs . . . they are more then happy to help (within their means of course) Can't hurt to ask!!

Re: what would you do, preferred or non preferred

Its hard to say whats more worth it to you, I've done the cheapest room and got non preferred at pop and hated it, but as bella said preferred rooms can be just as far. Pop is nice since it's newer and has a couple things that the all stars dont have, but I just cant stand the sheer size of it. Walks to the bus stop from the room I stayed at (80's) was only bearable if we cut through the parking lot. One thing I can say is that a refillable mug is not worth it here, even if they have icees, I drank my drink before I even made it back to the room!
