Upgrade
I have a friend (not me, really
 ) who thinks she can sweet talk her way to a free upgrade at The Comtemporary from a garden room to a tower room. Her plan is to go there early the morning of check in before going to the parks. I told her, I think she won't get it for free. They may give you some requests but I can't see them moving you to that kind of upgrade for 8 nights for free unless they botched up something. Anybody ever try this?

I've never heard of getting an upgrade, but why not ask...
We've gotten lucky a few times with early arrivals (both times with the Auto Train). We were able to check into our rooms by 10AM.

Stranger things have happened. It cannot hurt to ask, but I think it is unlikely, especially for eight nights. Are you sure it's not for you?

I doesn't hurt to ask but she shouldn't expect it. We've gotten an upgraded view at WL a couple of times but I don't think that's as big of a deal as this.
What's the price difference in her two rooms?

That's pretty expensive for a free upgrade but our upgrade at WL was a $65 difference. I hope it doesn't ruin her trip if she doesn't get it.

Moving from the wing into the tower is nothing to keep your fingers crossed for. Chances are pretty poor they'll give that kind of upgrade and if they do, rest assured you'll have a lake view room, not an MK view room on the west side of the tower.

They might give it to her discounted or something. I suppose it depends on what kind of sweet-talking she does. I wouldn't do the trampy kind. Maybe just act really nice and really happy and such. It's not too likely, but you never know. If it's not a busy time, then there might be some rooms available. And if they have a cancelation, then they usually want to fill the room (but it won't be free).

We were upgraded from a garden view room to concierge service last year for 9 nights at the Poly. We didn't ask, but they did it as we checked in. My friend and her family also got the upgrade as well, they checked in an hour after us. I'm kinda hoping for the same thing next week, but not counting on it.

We were upgraded at the Contemporary in April. I had booked a Garden Room and expected a parking lot view, but at checkin I was told that we were upgraded to a Tower Room and had a lake view!!!
 What a great way to start a trip!!!! I guess you never know!

They sometimes surprise you with all kinds of magic. Go ahead and ask! And a front-desk CM may have just had to deal with 50 pompous, rude and pushy guests, so a nice smile and friendly tone might be a nice change...
