Beach Club
I have a few question I was hoping some of you might be able to help me out with at the Beach Club.
1. Refillable mugs. I read in one website that they are only available a Hurricane's and that you can get alcoholic or non-alcoholic. Do they have the kids mugs and can you get both soda or coffee like we did at the Poly. 2. Would you recommend taking the buses to Magic Kingdom or walking through Epcot and taking the monorail. 3. Would anyone recommend the seafood buffet. How would you rate this hotel against the poly. Better Much Better or Not as Good As. Thanks again --- everyone is always a great help. Although we have been to disney (3) times in the past three years after reading the post I realize how little I know, but the good news is I get disneywiser each time we go.

Hi
Althought I haven't been to the BC yet. I have researched it enough to help out a little. The refillable mugs - you cannot get any alcoholic drinks refilled in your mugs. The refillable mug program will be exactly like you had at the Poly, and there are several locations at the BC where they can be refilled (maybe some can give you the exact locations) Seems to me the buses would be the "quickest" way to get to MK, though going through Epcot and taking the monorail would be more "fun". I will probally try both ways on my trip and let you know how it was. I'm sure you will get answers to all your other questions soon. Have Fun !!!!!!!

You'll have to let me know how you liked the Beach Club. I'm so excited I can't wait to go - especially since it will be during the Food and Wine Festival. Last year we went during the Flower Festival and the Flower Power concerts were awesome. Our DS (8 during our last visit) fell alseep during the Survivor Concert. Pretty amazing since it was extremely loud.

Hello preidel24, we have not actually stayed at BC, but we were at the Beach Club Villas this past March in a studio.
1.) Yes I think they have the refillable mugs at Hurricane Hanna's, and you can get soft drinks their. The problem is Hurricane Hanna's operating hours and location. When we were their it did not open till 11:00am, and it is located in the Storm Along Bay area, which was a good walk for a drink from the BCV, but not so bad if you or at the BC. 2.) I would recommend walking thru Epcot (if you like to walk), and taking the bus back. I just love experience of walking thru WS before it opens. 3.) We did the clam bake at Cape May, and it was wonderful, our first time eating clams and mussels. Of course the kids did not like them, but they had their own little buffet. We will go back. We also did the character breakfast as well, it was also buffet style, and I would recommend it as well. Not many people were their, and, the characters had time to sit down at our table and play with the kids. It was a great experience. I can not rate it against the Poly, have not stayed at the poly yet, but I can put it up against the Contemp due to location alone. I hope this helps, I would also be interested in a response from someone who has stayed in the BC. :)

Spike thanks for the information. We just love Epcot and that's why we choose the Beach Club. I was a little concern because when I read trip reports at trip advisor.com so people really didn't like the beach club. We loved the poly and it hard to try something new but hey I'm in disney isn't that enough. Last time my DS (ages 15, 12, and 9) were not as excited about MK so I thought the Beach Club would be a great bet since we love Epcot and MGM.

Preidel,
The BC and YC are our favorites. We just returned from several days at the Poly, and enjoyed the differences, the atmosphere is definitely that of the Islands, and very relaxing. It's definitely an older resort, so rooms aren't quite as crisp as the newer resorts but we loved it. We frequent the BC and YC, and although I drink water mostly, my husband loves the refillable mugs and gets them for each resort for both sodas, coffee and tea. I know he used it at Hurricaines, but I thought he said he used it at Beaches and Cream too, but I'd have to confirm that with him. As for transportation, that is one of the things that makes the BC and YC our favorite, is location, we love Epoct, so it's perfect for that, you can take the boat if you're not up to a little walk, and when going to the MK, we always prefer to pass through Epcot to the monorail, it's just so much more fun than the buses. Regarding Cape May, we love that also, the clam bake buffet is really fantastic and delicious, and the character breakfast also one of our favorites. I personally, don't think you can go wrong with the BC or YC. Enjoy you're trip! We just got back Sunday, and we are already planning our next two trips for the September, and November. Sept. to Ft. Wilderness cabins, Nov back to Yacht Club! I think we go into withdrawals during the summer dry spell between trips, but it's just too hot for us. |

The YC/BC refillable mugs may be refilled at Hurricane Hannah's, Beaches n Cream, and the lounges.
Hurricane Hannah's used to sell a refillable mug for alcoholic drinks. You could get it refilled at a lower cost for the drink. I don't know if they still are doing this. It is a different mug from the regular refillable mug. If you are planning on walking through Epcot to the monorail, then monorailing to the TTC, then transferring to the MK monorail, it might be more fun than riding the bus, but it will take you at least twice as long to get there. Beaches n Cream is a very popular place. The food is great and the prices good, considering it is WDW after all. You normally have a wait for a table no matter what time of day or evening. No ps ressies are taken there. |

Thanks for the tips - I also go into withdrawl. It has been one year since our last visit. I'm usually fine the first six months after the trip. The pixie dust does a pretty decent job of sustaining me - but after that I feel the need for another visit. We live in New Jersey so we just can't jot off for the weekend. You have to go for at least a week to make it worth the cost of the plane fare. We also have 3 DS's who are in (i homeschool but we still put in 180 days) school. My DH builds alot of new school so getting away during the summer is usually not possible because it's his busy season. Plus I agree I've never been in the summer but it's hot enough here in Jersey I can't image Florida
