OK... yes.... we haven't even been home from disney and we are starting to plan our next trip (sept 2008 trip)

We decided on AKL but let me ask about the views....Is the savannah view really worth it? The pool views look beautiful too! But we figure if this will be our only trip next year wouldn't it be worth it to downgrade the view and go for 10 days instead of 8? The price difference for it is only 100 more to go from the savannah view bunk which we have booked now to a pool view bunk...

What's your opinion??

(It will be 3 adults--Mike's brother is coming with us, and 1 child)
They told me that a bunk with sleep an adult (plus my bil is only about 5'5) without a problem.

The savannah view is worth every single penny....I sware it. Both trips there I was in the savannah and I can say that it adds so much to the trip to be able to sit on your balcony and look at those animals...definately get it.

Definately do the bunk beds if you have a third adult. He will fit on them fine at 5'5. Your DD will get a kick out of them too.

Yes, the savannah view is worth it! Yes, there are viewing spots all over the resort but there is something about sitting and watching from your room. I loved to get up and sit on the balcony with a cup of hot tea, watching the animals starting their morning. And even at night to sit and watch them. You won't be sorry.

The Savannah view is worth it definately. ALTHOUGH, I did notice we spent more time in the resort's common viewing areas than we did on our own pivate balcony. We did pool view once and since the trees have grown so large now there really isn't a huge point to that. We had a huge tree obstructing our view of the pool.

I would either do standard to save $, or get the Savannah View. Pool was pointless in my opinion.

I'd go standard and keep my fingers crossed at check in when you ask if it would be possible to upgrade to savanna view. Especially because you're requesting the bunk beds, it might work in your favor anyway.

If we go savannah view then we can only afford to go for 7/8 days tops....(7 day ph ticket) but if we did one of the other views we could stay 10/11 days (with 10 day ph tickets). I have the free dining already secured with the bounceback offer so that's not a problem.....

If it's a matter of how long you can stay then you should just go standard and hope for the best. Truth be known, they only have VERY few standard rooms...the possible upgrade at that resort is VERY high especially during the slow month of september. You can just hope. Both times I stayed there I booked standard and got upgraded. I also went in January both times.

I'd just pray for an upgrade (expect the worse hope, for the best)---don't want to be too disappointed!! But I'd still be at AKL and the zebra domes would soothe my pain......

Yeah, go for "standard view" and stay for longer. Like I said, maybe it was just us but we spent more time in the common viewing areas than on our savannah view balcony. Don't COUNT ON the upgrade to SAvannah View , just in case, you don't want to be dissapointed but I'd say you have a pretty good chance too. Go for the 10 day/standard view option.

That's very true. We loved going out to Arusha Rock when we went to Boma in June!! That's a nice area out there and I loved the fire pit there too!!

Our first stay at AKL, my DS's would get up every morning out of the bunk beds, tip toe past us, whispering all the way, grabbing some cereal and milk from the fridge, and then go out on the balcony, eating their breakfast and waking up with the animals. It is a memory embedded in my head, that I am so thankful to have. I highly recommend getting a savannah view. If you repeat visits to AKL, then you can look at saving some money, but your first time there, get the full package and enjoy!
