Disney Family of Five
One of my pet peeves about disney is what I feel (this maybe is just my issue) is when you have a family of (5) Mom, Dad and three DC you have limited options (for moderate rates) at the disney resorts. You have disney POR (133-189) range that's it. You can of course book two rooms at All Stars (at 79-129) per room, but that will run you 200 or over per night. You can book several of the deluxes GF, Poly, Beach, Yacht, contemp but if your on a budget this might not be an option. To top it off to stay at wilderness lodge, boardwalk inn, akl (you can book a more pricy deluxe room)you have either book two rooms or a suite. Does anyone feel the same. I'd love to stay at some of the other hotels (especially the WL) paying for two room would be a waste of money.

We are in somewhat the same situation in that we have 5 kids. For us to stay on property, we had to get 2 rooms, no way around it. That is what led us to the DVC. We can get a 2 bedroom villa, or a grand villa if we want to splurge. We usually go in off season of some kind, and we figure our room cost is about $175 per night, and we get to stay in a deluxe resort with a full kitchen and living room. Plus, our nightly cost is bascally fixed for the next 38 odd years.
Outside of DVC, I agree. Take a look at the current poll on the front page just to get an idea of how many people agree with you.

I agree 100 % !!!! We have a family of 5 also, but our youngest is 2 so we are okay for now. But are looking into the DVC for the future.

I'm glad I'm not alone. I tried for the last year to talk my DH into a DVC but I can't budge him./ His not a disney nut like me. He likes to vacation all over the place and I have to say we had the kids all over the place. Sometimes it's a challenge to be the only disney nut in our family (not to mention the only girl). Sometimes when I say let's go to Disney again they all look at me like I'm crazy. So I do what I do everytime I feel the need to do disney. I wear them all down till they agree to go.. It's worth it!!! Hey a girl has to have some perks.
As to the Fort Wilderness Cabins everyone I know who stayed says never again. Too crowded at the pools and they said they felt the serious RV'ers looked down on them as softies. That's not a knock I love RV'ers.

:) :) :) LOL! that last post was sooo cute! I can relate to that! My favorite hotel so far is CBR and we have 3 kids too...so we book 2 rooms and bring Grandma, why can't they have a trundle bed option like POR???????:hmmm

I agree amy why can't they. I suppose if they offered us (families of 5) more choice with moderates then they had more trouble filling the deluxe hotels. I love the deluxes I'd just like an option (for a budget) visit.

I totally agree that they should have some other options for larger families. I would love to stay at the deluxes more often but for budget reasons I also cannot always do that.
My DC's are 6, 4 & 4 and I have one on the way. Since they are so young I can fit the little ones in a regular room. We stayed at POR with the trundle bed and also without. The rooms are the same size just one has a small trundle bed. The last time we went we just brought a sleeping bag and I slept on the floor. |

Yeah, Our DS's are much older (9,12,15) so we really need that extra daybed. How exciting another DB on the way. Congrats and hope your feeling well.
