We are staying at the All Star Movies!!!
Ive recently booked rooms for a group of 12 family members ranging in ages 13 to 85 at the All Star resort! I would appreciate any helpful hints as Ive been in the World before but Ive never stayed on property. We have rental cars-so should we use Disney transportation at all? Which buildings/rooms/floor will be quiet but convenient ? Any other helpfulm hints are always appreciated!! :) :) :)

your question about using disney transportation ..well we drive but once we are there we park the van at the resort and dont get in it again till its time to leave .. this is a personal choice. We love Disney transportation and it beats having to park and take a tram to the entrance of the park. some think its better to drive around their selves they feel it saves them time. You will get alot of good opinions on either .. so take what you feel suits you best.
as for ASMO we stayed there a few years ago .. it was great ..but we love all the disney resorts :)

The mighty ducks area is good to stay in it is close to the ASMu and can cacth the bus there. I think that it is closer than the bus stop at the movies. I feel the only bad thing about the busses is at MK on the weekends. It feels like you wait and wait for a bus to get back to the hotel. But it is nice not to have to think about driving everywhere. When are you going.

I am one of those who recommend that you drive yourself. I have found that it does save alot of time instead of waiting for the bus. Also,I have noticed that at Epcot at least the bus stop for the All-Stars is furthest from the entrance, with one of the deluxe hotels(don't remember which one, sorry!)being the closest. I guess that's another perk for the people staying deluxe!!!

How exciting, your going to have so much fun!!!:p
I also believe that it is easier to drive yourself. We always rent a car because we do things off property as well as on. If you are staying at a disney resort you don't have to pay for parking at any of the parks so there is no added expense to driving yourself. I think that by driving we save alot of time. We don't have to wait for buses to get going in the morning, and we don't have to spend what seems like forever stopping everywhere to pick up other passengers, also when you are ready to leave or move on to another park you can just go, there's no waiting for a bus, this works out best for us.

Congrats on going! Enjoy one of the greatest places on earth!
When we go, we have two types of days - park days and down days. On park days we use WDW transportation and leave our car in the hotel parking lot. On down days, we use our car to travel off Disney property and out to Kissimee and perhaps the KSC or International Drive, or just lounge around the pool, do laundry and visit the pool bar at OPR. ;) Enjoy your trip. |

I do both, a little bit of driving myself and a little bit of WDW transportation. The WDW buses come by regularly so your waits should be minimal. The one park that is definitely better to use WDW transportation is the Magic Kingdom. The buses will drop you right off at the front of the MK.

Hang out here and you will gain so much knowledge to help you plan your trip.
I have to saw once we arrive at WDW we park the car and don't drive it unless we are going to another resort and need to get there fast. The buses work for us. I feel like not driving is part of the stress free/leave the world behind fun of going to WDW.

We always use disney transportation and had no problems. You have 12 people so you'd have to use multiple cars, it just sounds like a lot of work just to go to the parks. Also you may want to purchase the refillable mugs and check into E-nights since your staying on property.
