Caribbean Beach Ruined Clothes

I never heard from the person in claims so I called them after a week. The woman said I had no hard file whatever that is so she would check. They only give a max of 500.00 for ruined clothes. Well having a pre-teen my daughters clothes were well over that since we were on vacation for almost two weeks. The woman said she would have to call me back she neede to look into the issue. The issue was are room neede to be changed because it was filthy. In the process of moving are bags a brown sticky substance spilled on the bag and clothes. I called beel services and the manager had them washed. The clothes were still stained so I called the executive office said i had to put a claim in and I did. The moral of the story is don't wait for anyone to call you keep trying them. It upsets me that they take forever looking into issues for once they should take a person's word. The last thing I want to do is call Disney and make up stories about ruined clothes.

Re: Caribbean Beach Ruined Clothes

The best way to present a complaint is to put your complaint in the form of a detailed letter in writing and mail or email it to WDW. If you filed a claim, then include the claim # in the letter.

You get better results that way and you have a paper trail.
I believe I posted the email & address for WDW guest relations in the first thread on this subject.

Also, did you take out trip insurance? I would check the insurance policy to see if they cover damage to your belongings. Also, if you paid for the trip with a credit card, some credit cards will provide trip insurance. Check with your cc company.

Hope it works out for you.

So sorry you are having to experience this. Such a shame. I hope you eventually get it resolved. The squeaky wheel gets the most attention, being persistent is the only way to get satisfaction these days.

I totally hear ya about the price of teenage clothes. $500 sure doesn't go far these days. I bought DD 1 outfit for her birthday...$95... of course it was from her favorite store.. so I was expecting it.

Re: Caribbean Beach Ruined Clothes

Thanks for the address. I should of said I did write to them as soon as I came back from my trip.A woman from the executive office contacted me and said to file a complaint so I did. At first I put all my complaints in one letter but certain things are dealt with by certain people she told me. The woman in claims said she would get back to me. Executive office said they would send me out a letter stating what they could do for me about my room problem. If I is not suffient I will call her again. MAybe I'm wrong for talking more in person after my first letter. It seems I ccan get my point across easier if I spaeking in person to them.

I understand your point of speaking with them on the phone, it is much easier. If you did it in writing & on the phone then I guess you just have to become a pain in the butt until they get this resolved. Kids clothes are soooooo expensive!
I'm sorry this is such a mess. Hopefully it will be resolved soon.

Get photos of everything and receipts if possible. Or print out items from the web to indicate price.

Re: Caribbean Beach Ruined Clothes

So sorry to hear about your bad experience. I sure hope it gets resolved soon. I understand about the clothing costs, I have a DD who is a Junior in HS and she has been wearing Hollister, American Eagle & Abercrombie for the last few years. I've finally turned her on to getting stuff at TJ Maxx and Marshall's....you can find that stuff there occasionally.

So, did the brown substance get on your daughter's clothes only or your other family members as well? Sure hope it didn't ruin her entire wardrobe, I know how devastating that can be for pre-teen/teen.

Best of luck and keep us informed.

Re: Caribbean Beach Ruined Clothes

Thanks for the concern. She shops at all of those stores. Most of her summer clothes were ruined. A woman called me tonight from claims but I was not home to take the call. I called back but the woman left for the evening I will try back tomorrow. I just spoke to a different woman during the day today and she was in charge of my claim now someone else is calling me. If I had to guess it's probably not a good thing. Very hard to prove your case sometimes.

I got a phone call today from claims. I have to fill out a paper for all the damaged clothes. They will then read it and tell me how much they will give me for them. But not over 500.00. In Florida certain laws only allow for certain amount of money back for these kinds of circumstances.

Re: Caribbean Beach Ruined Clothes

Did you take photos? That would be very important IMO. Then, if it's a sticky substance, I'd try using some of that Goo Gone stuff on the clothes. It totally dissolves anything in the sticky, gummy category. And then you can wash it again. If the clothes don't improve, so what? You're no worse off. But I have even used it on a leather chair to remove gum and it worked without leaving a stain.

I'm thinking maybe you can get $500 for your trouble and still salvage the clothes.

Re: Caribbean Beach Ruined Clothes

I would call my homeowners insurance as well and see if anything can be covered under personal property. I am not sure but it is worth a try.

Did you purchase disney travel insurance?
Even if not, the $500 is more than reasonable.

I also swear by "Shout" stain remover. I use it often.

There is also a cleaner called Mela Magic. It is by a company called Melaluca. You can only buy online. I use all their products. It has taken some amazing things out of clothes and furniture. Even old stains.
