Concierge Poly or Grand Floridian
New to this board. Need opinions on: With the Fairytale package thinking of splurging and staying at the Poly concierge. Thought going concierge it would cut down on the cost of food for us. I then also priced Grand Floridian too. Not much difference other than Poly I priced with Lagoon view and Grand Floridian lodge concierge. We have stayed at the Poly before but not Grand Floridian. We have 3 1/2 year old and Poly would probably be better--not as fancy but staying at the Grand Floridian would be wonderful. Anyone have any feedback regarding this. Thinking of making reservations for end of Sept.

First off, welcome to DC rlt431. I know you'll love it here.
I have never stayed at the Poly. But I have stayed at GF. Loved it. Even though it has that "froo froo" reputation, it's still really family oriented. I wouldn't hesitate because of your little one. As for concierge, we've never really done it. We're not in the room very much, all though with a 3 1/2 year old you might be back during the day to take naps. Usually by the time we're back at the room we're waaaaay too tired to think of eating anything. But there are a number of folks here at DC who live for concierge, and I'm sure you'll be hearing from them. Let us know what you decide.

Hey rlt, welcome to Disney Central! I hope you find everything you're looking for here! lol. Those are 2 great choices! one slight question, do you know what type of view you would have at the GF? Not that it really matters but it might be thrilling for your 3 1/2 year old to see the castle from your hotel room. If I had to choose, I would pick Poly. It's pool is great, and they have O'hanas which has a great character breakfast and a great buffet dinner! Both hotels have the monorail, so there are no extra perks there. Sorry I couldn't offer you more concrete reasons. Just my 2 cents, lol.
Joe:)

Welcome to DisneyCentral. One thing to remember is that there are two concierges at the Grand Floridian, the lodge concierge and the main building concierge. The lodge concierge is quite a bit less expensive, and is not as nice as the main building. It is in the sugarloaf building, and most of the rooms have views of the Magic Kingdom, but they are off to the side rather than straight on.
If it were me, I would save the money and go with the Poly. If it was just the two adults, then GF all the way.

Grand Flordian is great. We stay there every year. It isn't "stuffy" or any of those other negative things you might have heard. It is beautiful and just like every Disney resort ... a lot of fun! ;)
We've stayed at both concierges & actually prefer the lodge one. The resort has 2 great pools and a beach. ![]()

Thanks to everyone for their comments. I have about decided Poly is the way to go. We know we like the poly and if we could get a ground floor lagoon view it would be great. My son enjoyed see the fireworks from the hotel and the electric boat parade.
Also no one mentioned if going concierge would help on the meals costs. Last year we went the silver plan and didn't have to worry about meals because we used our wishes which were wonderful. But this year can't do lagoon view and silver plan. I have heard different opinions on the food in the lounge for concierge at the Poly and Grand Floridian. Some say it is good and lots of food and others say it was very sparse. Anyone been lately that can answer?

I have heard that the current building for the Poly Concierge is closing down to be re-done sometime this summer. You might want to call the Poly directly and see when that will be and what building the concierge is bieng moved to.

I have heard that the building for concierge will be moved to the Tahiti building until Oct. 17. What will this mean?. That building would not have a lounge like Hawaii but read it is one of the nicest buildings at the Poly.

The Grand Floridian is wonderful. It is our favorite place to stay when we visit DW. I am going to stay at the All Sports for the first time this July. I know that with the Disney Magic I will be more than happy there.....as well! My son is really into sports...I know that he will enjoy it also.
