pop surcharge

I was reading about POP and I found a confussing surcharge. It said there is a $13.50 surcharge for the 50's, 60's, 70's, buildings because they are preferred. Is this a different charge than the regular standard/preferred rooms at each resort? Also, I am looking at the pop and trying to figure out where to request (I know not guaranteed) my kids want the 60's with the yo-yo's but is the pool area too noisy when you are in your room?

Only the 60's building is "preferred." We've stayed in the 50's area and it was nice and quiet.

I think they changed that and made all three preferred locations, but don't quote me on that. I could sware that I read that on here while back however.

Seriously???? When we booked a few months ago it was just the 60s building. (I requested a 60's room without paying preferred status and was told it was a preferred room.) Thanks for updating me!
I stand corrected. Well, actually, I'm sitting, but you know what I mean!

Re: pop surcharge

Early last year we stayed at Pop and has a room in building 3 (50's) that was classed as preferred, so this has been going on for a while. And this is the standard/preferred charge as the other value resorts.

Preferred my butt! Preferred hike from the parking lot, which feels like over the hills and far away.

The 50s is actually REALLY close to the parking lot! I loved that area!

Re: pop surcharge

Looks like we'll be staying in the 80's or 90's then....I don't understand this really, if more than half of the buildings are preferred then what's the point??? Can it really be all of each building? We stayed in the 70's last year, non preferred and had a bit of a hike to Century Hall.

We origianally had preferred rooms, however, when i called with the discount code for the free upgrade the plus tickets and room discount, I was told we would have to switch to non-preferred.

Honestly, all I care about it that our rooms are close together and reasonable close to a DSA.

Re: pop surcharge

I think the preferred buildings are the ones closest to or almost touching the main building. That means one of the 50's buildings and one of the 70's buildings could fit that description as well.
These would be building (1)0 and 2 as well as possibly 3 and 6.

Not building 3! And certainly not on the back side that faces the lake. Building 1 and 2 do front the parking lot.
For parking, I'd suggest buildings 1, 2, 7 and 9. Even 8 looks dicey, even though it does face 80s and 90s parking.

Re: pop surcharge

we stayed in the 70's building, 4th floor, back side (room 422) We did not pay for a preferred room. It was a short walk to the main building. Very quiet. It was nice.

Which building? 6 or (1)0? 6 would probably not be considered preferred. (1)0 is right next to Classic Hall. Or maybe it's also dependent on where the room is in the building as well. If it's on the back side, away from things, that wouldn't be preferred, would it? Not when preferred is based on location and proximity to the main building, it's restaurant and shops, and the bus stops.
If you are all confused, I'm not sure if it's building ten or building zero, so I'm trying to call it both.
