Icon7 Wilderness Lodge ? - First Post

I am planning an early December trip, this will be our first December trip to WDW and we will by staying at WL; I'm beyond excited. How are the Holiday decorations? Will MVMCP be enjoyable for my children ages 8 and 6, we absolutely love Christmas? What are the park hours usually in December, do any parks stay open late for EMH? Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

By the way - This site rocks!

Welcome to Mousebuzz! (and yes, we do rock )

You have picked the absolutely BEST resort to stay in at Christmas. WL is beautiful and has a woodsy, cosy feel. At Christmas the decorations are gorgeous.

I've never been to MVMCP - but others here have and rave about it - I'm sure they'll enjoy it.

Early December should not be too bad, crowd wise. The most important thing you have to do is PLAN ahead, make all your dinner reservations and stick around here. We love planning trips - and don't be afraid to ask whatever you want.

Check out allears.net for menus, park times, parade times and pictures of the resorts.

Welcome to MouseBuzz!!

You have picked my favorite resort and you will love the beautiful Christmas decorations.

Hang out here and ask as many questions as you can. There are also some trip reports you can read and get some ideas from, that's how I learned a lot in teh beginning.

You will love WL it is awesome. The Christmas decorations are beautiful. I went to my first MVMCP and I loved it. The fireworks, parade, cookies, shorter lines for rides, it is all great. And don't miss the show!

Re: Wilderness Lodge ? - First Post

The Wilderness is quickly becoming one of my favorite resorts in WDW and is an excellent hotel for a pre Christmas visit.

In this trip report I have a few pictures of WL at Christmas.

http://www.mousebuzz.com/forum/trip-...t-about-2.html

For your other questions, yes, there are night EMH sessions, but like daytime, there is only one park per day, the morning park is different than the evening park, and there are also nights that there is NO EMH. Closer to Christmas, this changes and parks are open real late some nights. Like MK on 12/30 which was open until 4 and reopened at 7 with back to back EMH. Eaarlier in the month, MK will only be open until 9 on weekdays and 10 on weekends, with the Christmas parties ending around midnight. Epcot is open until 9:30 every night starting at Thanksgiving when they roll out all the Christmas traditions in Epcot. Studios closes anywhere from 7-10 depending on the night of the week and AK probably closes at 5 until it's almost Christmas and then it's open until 8.

Earlier in the month is better crowdwise than towards Christmas, plus, your hotel will cost less as well. Go to the Christmas party as there are parades, shows, costumed characters, and fireworks that are all themed to Christmas.

Welcome to Mousebuzz!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love WL. I have never stayed there but I hope to one day soon! It gets all done up for Christmas and looks amazing. I haven't been to the Christmas Party either but I have been to the Halloween Party and it is wonderful! There are small lines at MK for the big ticket items and the atmosphere is just a lot of fun!

WL is GORGEOUS at Christmas time! I have never stayed there, but I have eaten there (WCC - Whispering Canyon Cafe). I went for breakfast, but I heard dinner is great! If you like BBQ, then it's worth a look!

Early December is my FAVORITE time to go...we have been 3 times in early December. This year, we chose to go Thanksgiving week...we arrive on 11/21and stay until 11/27. I chose this time because I absolutely L VE WDW at Christmas time! It is unlike anyplace in the world. The decorations all over WDW are incredible. The attention to detail is unsurpassed. You will ABSOLUTELY L VE IT!!!!!!

Oh, we've been discovered again

Welcome to MouseBuzz!

I think your young children would absolutely enjoy MVMCP.
After all, MK is geared towards the young crowd. They put on a fantastic party all over the place. The parade is wonderful, the cookies and hot chocolate, the castle is gorgeous, there's a cute little show in front of the castle and the fairy godmother lights up the castle with her magic wand. The whole thing is just beautiful.
I would say don't miss it.

Re: Wilderness Lodge ? - First Post

Truth be told, the hot chocolate isn't that great. It's made with hot water and could really use some milk or half and half to thicken it up and cool it off.
But you have to do that with Swiss Miss and Nestle's at home anyway.

The pictures of WL are FABULOUS and just what I was hoping to find from someone on this site! Could you actually see the castle from your room?? If so, please give me details as to what I need to ask for to get a room like that!!

Everyone has been so welcoming and full of advice - so I say to everyone who replied to my questions; Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!!

There are a few rooms that have a limited view of the castle. It doesn't hurt to ask, you may get lucky.

Re: Wilderness Lodge ? - First Post

I was on the seventh floor, which is the concierge section, Room 7050. All pictures of the castle in that trip report through trees are from our balcony.
A few years ago we had room 6020. This room had a semi view of the castle, but it was through the trees. These are woods view rooms on the north side of the building and look north. The lower you are, the more trees that are in your way and also, even if you are up high, there still is an even chance that a tree will block your view of the castle. We were in 2020 in early December and all we saw was trees.
