More WDW resorts gain 4 Diamond status

In my mailbox today I found an update from Disney. It's basically their PR sheet, but here's an interesting item and the excuse for posting in this sub forum.

"Walt Disney World Resort recently earned its fourth and fifth four-diamond distinctions from the American Automobile Association (AAA). Disney's Contemporary Resort and Disney's Polynesian Resort joined Disney's Yacht & Beach Club Resorts and Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa with their own official four-diamond ratings for 2008. The AAA diamond rating process is considered North America's premier hotel and restaurant rating system. "Earning these awards requires a great deal of work and dedication by our resort Cast Members," said Kevin Myers, vice president of Walt Disney World Resorts. "Most importantly, it lets our Guests know that they are staying at one of our very best Disney resorts and that we take great pride in the outstanding service we provide.""

So, now all three monorail resorts are four diamond hotels. I wonder what they have to do at Boardwalk to elevate that one?

Nice! That does make me wonder about the Boardwalk too though, it seems like it should be a very close runner-up. I wonder if they have any plans to try for a 4-diamond rating there too.

and well deserved they are too- such beautiful resorts- but I agree Boardwalk should be at a similar rating.

I read a report that 75% of the rating is based on service and 25% on facilities. It has been big news around here since the biggest employer in the county lost its 5 star a few years ago and has yet to get it back.

What about Animal Kingdom and Wilderness Lodge? I wonder were they rate.

I wonder if Boardwalk is at a disadvantage because it has doesn't have an real in-the-resort restaurant? Maybe they don't see the restaurants on the Boardwalk itself as being part of the hotel?

Not sure about AKL here, but WL won't get 4 Diamonds until they have 24 hour room service. I'm sure about that.

I think it's something else. It's pretty clear that that restaurant row on the boardwalk is Boardwalk's dining, even if they aren't all in an interconnecting lobby. But I could be wrong.
Maybe Stormalong Bay was the tipping point for Yacht/Beach and Boardwalk can't compete there. I just guessing, I've got nothing solid.

As much as I would like to have seen WL get the rating, I think it is great that there is still appreciation for the things Disney does.
