Animal Kingdom Lodge in August

Their is a high possibility that I will be going back this summer. I have never stayed at AKL and right now it seems to be the top choice to stay at this trip. Last summer I stayed at CBR and loved it.

I was just wondering what all of you thought of this resort. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!!!

Re: Animal Kingdom Lodge in August

I have never stayed there, but we have visited there a couple of times. We ate at Boma last trip and L VED L VED L VED it!!!!! We decided to rent DVC points for our trip in November and DH and I agreed on AKV. I CANNOT wait to stay there! It is an INCREDIBLE resort. Book a Savanna View room! I can't wait to wake up in the morning, walk out of our balcony and see the animals that close. The kids are going to LOVE it. I can't wait!!!!! This resort makes me want to buy into DVC alone.

Re: Animal Kingdom Lodge in August

I would not hesitate to make that reservation. This is my spot to stay the next time we go.
I was thinking of concierge level but have read many not so good reports about that. So now I am thinking any room is a good room there. Never mind the concierge.

I say 'do it'

I agree about Concierge...I was going to book it. But after realizing that not every Concierge room gets a Savanna View, why pay the extra $$? For the snacks and drinks? We will be on the meal plan and have refillable mugs. Enough food for us!

Re: Animal Kingdom Lodge in August

I have stayed at AKL twice. It is by far my favorite resort in all of WDW even over the Polynesian. The theme, off-the-beaten-path location and service just makes this the best resort for me. Aside from those pluses, it has excellent transportation (you do not share a bus with anyone), excellent restaurants and food court, cool pool and of course the animals right outside your window. Definately worth every penny to stay there at least once.

Re: Animal Kingdom Lodge in August

The advantage to concierge is their ability to book things you're unable to get.
Also, only AKL concierge guests are allowed to book the AK sunrise safari. The pre planning service can be invaluable to first or even second time guests. You can work with the itinerary planning office as soon as you've made your reservation. AKL is also the newest of the deluxe resorts, although both the Poly and Contemporary have been totally refurbished since then.

Oh yeah, I've stayed there 4 times now.

I will fill in what I have to say about AKL Concierge very soon in my trip report...

I would stay at AK again.

Definatly seize the chance at staying at the AKL! It is by far one of the greatest places I have ever stayed! The sheer awsomeness of it hits you as soon as you walk through those doors and into the lobby your just swept up into the atmosphere! Its a beautiful resort and having the animals there to admire is only one of the perks! It has an amzing pool, great hot tubs, fantastic food (You have to try a Boma Breakfast buffet!!) and just so much to offer!

AKL is fast becoming one of our favorite resorts to stay at. We have stayed there 3 times now. The resort (as all resorts) are well themed, but the Savannah view is just awesome!!! To sit on a balcony at night, and watch the animals is just fantastic.

Re: Animal Kingdom Lodge in August

We've stayed there 3 times; twice in Savannah view, and once in a pool view room. It is SINCERELY my favorite Disney Resort ever! There is nothing that even comes close to the uniqueness, peaceful vibe, accomodations, dining options, resort activities, etc...

Trust me, you will NOT be dissapointed.

Re: Animal Kingdom Lodge in August

A savannah view room is unbelievable. If I had the chance to do it again, I certainly would. Money well spent in my opinion.

I just recently read some really unflattering reviews about the concierge CMs. I believe I read that in the allearsnet review section. But you are right, for all those little extras and not expecting the best service out of the CMs, it is probably a good idea to book it
