I usually make the bed every morning anyway and clean up after ourselves. There is usually just TOO much in the room for us to leave, we usually put everything in the safe from car keys to wallets and take the bare minimum to the parks. It makes me more comfortable to know no one else is in there.
Therefore, we don't tip.

Disney Mouse keeping is great about putting fresh towels and such on your door when they are asked not to come in and they call you and leave a message to let you know who they are and where to call if you should need anything during your stay.
Good to know my DH is not the only one. We haven't stayed at a Disney Resort since 2000, and then he was not as paranoid so we just put our valuables in the safe, but since he has traveled a lot and of course stayed in many hotels . . . ah, but I digress.

Tipping is always a good practice and should be based on your level of service received, in my opinion.

I guess I should come clean and not place it all on him, because I too sometimes feel as though there is just too much in the room to allow someone I don't know, but that may be very good at there job, into our room.

As far as the post office goes, I ship a LOT of PKG, so I ALWAYS tip my carrier . . . at the Holidays and random times throughout the year. PLUS, most carriers are on salary . . . servers are not!

ACTUALLY, mail carrier is one of post office positions that is NOT salary. As far as tipping your mail carrier with money on holidays and other random times, you may want to reconsider. If he/she is caught accepting money, even as a gift, he/she will be fired. Small gifts, food, and things of the such are fine, but money can...and on several occasions HAS....costs jobs. The best gift you can give your carrier is a bottle of cold water on a hot day or cup of hot coffee or cocoa on a cold one.

WOW really? I only had one carrier say that to me, because I had put the money in an Xmas envelope . . . he said he didn't celebrate Xmas and he couldn't accept if it was and Xmas gift . . . if it WASN'T and it was ONLY for good service he could take it?? Thanks for the tip! I'll stick to gift cards!

We take a picture of DH and myself and put a lable on the back that says...

HELP I'M LOST!!! Please help me find my mommy and daddy! My name is Maddox and I am 2.....

Then we put our names, cell, resort and a couple of family members numbers on it. Incase we lose signal on our cell phones these family members can talk to the baby and help keep him calm until we get back together. We "lost" our daughter in MGM (Honey I Shrunk the Kids play area) when she was 3 and it was the scariest 5 minutes of my life. The kids wear the tags on a lanyard anytime we are out of the room.

Re: mousekeeping

we tend to leave a couple of dollars on the table with a note to housekeeping each day saying thanks. SO far we have had great housekeepers and towel animals left etc so hope this continues. If we had a poor 'cleanup' one day then they would not receive it. Simple.

This is a point I agree with. I feel tipping in general should be what it used to be. Tip or extra/good service. Although, I have never not tipped a day at DW. Only DH and myself, and I also clean up after myself, but always had plenty of towels/soaps left, garbage emptied, etc.

my point exactly Sue. You should not be expected to leave a tip if you do not wish to but if you feel that you want to and indeed have received a good or excellent service then IMPO you should tip that service. Even if it is a thank you. I am sure any kind of praise for a great job is welcomed. It would be for me. A poor service on the other hand.....nada!
