How is the Port Orleans Riverside?
We just changed our hotel from the Movies to the Riverside, what are the best things about it or downsides? Any suggestions? Thanks! Oh yeah, and how is it for kids ages 15, 13, and 4?

Re: How is the Port Orleans Riverside?
It is huge resort, but totally beautiful and a favorite amoung mousebuzzers. I prefer FQ but realize that one isn't going to work with 5 people. I like the boat access to DTD from both resorts and the options they offer. their food courts are a curt above the average and the atsmosphere is very fun and relaxing.

The room accomodates 5 people, and has an old time feel. You can also get a carraige ride at the main entrance. I didn't like the pools though, they were nothing special. The beds were ok, but I am spoiled as I stayed there after the Fort Wilderness cabins, and I would definately do the cabins again if I could.

I think this is the best resort for a family. Lots of things to do from fishing, bike riding, boating, carriage rides, great bar, food not bad, usually the best of all moderates or values rosorts. Love the boat ride to and from DTD. Love to walk with wife after dark and listen to all the piped in crickets and frogs. Good aracade for the older kids.

We've stayed there and were very happy with it. It has a nice food court, which was nice, (but the cheerleaders were there and we couldn't always get to it). I think you'll enjoy it overall.

Re: How is the Port Orleans Riverside?
As you have already heard it is a great resort. We loved it for our stay, 6 years ago this June. The mousekeepers really made this trip so wonderful for all of us with the little extras they did. It was great for the group that was with us who had 5 in thier room. We enjoyed our quiet pool as well as the main pool. We were located in the LAST building, which was a great walk to the bus stop. Practically right behind the building, great for the nights my DS at time 5, fell asleep on the bus and we had to carry his dead weight back to the room. But it was a bit of a walk to get breakfast each morning. Especially b/c by the time everyone one in our party of 9 were ready the sun was in full swing for the walk back to the room. So my suggestion is if you have a walk to eat each morning, be ready to catch the bus at the main building, would have made our lives easier.
Oh and the trees all around really make it so quiet! We were able to catch a fireworks diplay right outside our rooms one night!

Re: How is the Port Orleans Riverside?
POR is a very nice resort. It is very large. The food court is good, and you have a sit down restaurant there (Boat wrights). There is a boat that you can take from the resort to DtD. which is very convenient. The only down side if you call it that, is that you share the bus transportation with POFQ, and most of the runs, you are the last stop, which means that the buses can be very full. The pool is nice.

Re: How is the Port Orleans Riverside?
We have stayed at POR twice and we have enjoyed it both times. I think you will enjoy the extra room you will have with the third kid. We also have three children, and the trundle bed makes all the difference in the world. I think you will really enjoy it!

Re: How is the Port Orleans Riverside?
POR is a beautiful, lovely, wonderful resort and it is absolutely PERFECT for the ages of kids in your group! I would call it a vast improvement over Movies...if I could afford to upgrade all the time I would!
You will love it!
