Which resorts have you NOT stayed at, and why?

I've noticed a lot of people love to list the resorts they HAVE stayed at in WDW, and in Disneyland too, but I actually think I would be curious to see which resort you HAVEN'T stayed at and why! Just thought it would be an interesting survey.

Here's my list of have NOT stayed at & why:

Grand Floridian: It reminds me of my Grandmother's bedroom, not into victorian.

Contemporary: We were actually booked there in a MK view room 2 yrs. ago but cancelled the reservation b/c we bought into DVC and took our first DVC trip instead.

Polynesian: Not sure why I've never stayed here, I love the Poly!

Caribbean Beach: When we stayed at moderates I always preferred Coronado instead.

All-Star Sports: I hated sports as a teen. I preferred the Music one.

Beach Club: We can never get in there on our DVC points!!

Swan/Dolphin: just not interested.

As far as Disneyland goes:

Paradise Pier: given the choice of DL Hotel & Grand Californian I would never choose to stay at Paradise Pier. Just blah.

I haven't stayed in any of the monorail resorts or FW, just because I can't really afford it.

Here's my list of have NOT stayed at & why:

Grand Floridian: Not really my taste either . . . but a friend stayed there and we visited her OMG luxury at it's BEST!! (I'll never be able to afford it!)

Contemporary: Would to, but can't really justify the even $239/night Florida Resident rate (we are never in/at the room/resort long enough!)

Polynesian: I love the Poly! I really want to stay here!!

Caribbean Beach: They only mod I HAVEN'T stayed in . . . I like the rest though! (POFQ, CS, POR, in that order!)

Beach Club: BEAUTIFUL, but again unless I win the lottery!

Swan/Dolphin: just not interested. (me too )

As far as Disneyland goes: NEVER BEEN . . . but am thinking about it soon!!

Re: Which resorts have you NOT stayed at, and why?

Let's pretend I can stay anywhere:

ASSports would be last on my list, because the theme just doesn't interest me at all. This is really the only place, though, that I actively don't want to stay at. The others on the list just aren't really my higher choices.

I'm not that into CSR although it does look beautiful; I just have this impression of it being really far away from everything.

The bedrooms in CBR seem very, very bright.

The colors of Yacht Club seem uptight to me.

And AKL seems dark.

Also, the appeal of staying on a golf course is just lost on me.

When you can't afford anything at all, you get to be very, very picky.

Re: Which resorts have you NOT stayed at, and why?

I'll break it down into category to make it easier....

Values:
All Star Sport -I rarely read anything positive about the place..it has no appeal to me and I don't want to take the chance of being there the same time a school or sports team is there as they are good for booking large groups.
Pop Century - Haven't had to go value in awhile, but if I do, this is probally where I will stay.

Moderate:
POR - to big...no thanks
CBR - WAYYYYYYYYY to big and to many negative reviews for me to want to try.
CSR - the whole convention thing doesn't work for me...the last thing I want to deal with on vacation is people working...that and it to big.

Deluxe:
Grand Floridian - it's gorgeous...but I'd be afraid to touch anything..don't know if it would be relaxing....to rich for my blood anyway.
contemporary - in the past I would have said because it was unattractive. Since the redo, I can only say that I just haven't had the chance...don't know if I ever will either.
Boarkwalk - clown theme at the pool....enough said...freaky!
Beach club - maybe one day.
dolphin and swan - no desire at all to stay at either...don't know why, I just don't.

DVC:
I have only rented points at OKW...I could have picked others, but like OKW. I think I would like to try either WLV or AKV, but doesn't really matter to me if I don't.

no monorail resorts because I need 2 rooms and they are just so expensive
No as movies or sports- no reason other than Music seemed more interesting to us and movies had too many kids for just two adults
No Coronado- did not know it was a moderate-
Only ones that we have been to that I would prefer to avoid are the all stars and cbr- we had a really crappy time there and it was a case of "put the people who do not knwo better as far away as possible" they ignored our connecting room request and it was just an icky time. The only DVC I have stayed at is SSR and I have also never stayed at BC or BWV- hope to some day though since I can... Oh and WL is another that was too expensive two rooms at a time

Re: Which resorts have you NOT stayed at, and why?

All Star Movies, Music, Sports and Pop Century - Twin Beds instead of Queens is one of the reasons, but, any of the "groups" that go tend to stay at these resorts. Not a big fan of the big groups that tend to have rowdy and or noisy people in them. Especially cheer leaders.

Coronado Springs Resort - Very huge and has so many conventions booked there, that I don't want to see the business side of things.

Port Orleans Riverside and French Quarter - The beds are twins and not queens, but, I could see staying at the French Quarter if my choices were limited. Riverside is too big.

Beach Club and Yacht Club - They are on my list of resorts to stay at. The opportunity just hasn't presented itself yet. Meaning, as a Florida Resident Passholder, the discounts or dates I have decided to go haven't happened at the same time.

Swan - I have stayed at the Dolphin and didn't like the width of the twin beds (though they were nice to lay upon, not good enough to share with a child). Unless there is an outrageously good deal, I probably won't stay here.

Saratoga Springs Resort - Too disconnected from Disney to me. I just don't see the Disney vibe. Would take a really good deal for me to stay here.

Re: Which resorts have you NOT stayed at, and why?

Grand Floridian: was going to stay there this year, but not with gas prices close to $5 in October when we'd go. The WL will do just fine, thank you.

CSR: I don't need to stay at an 1800 room mod with double beds (there's only 60 rooms with kings) and 4 bus stops again (POR and CBR)

All Star Movies: I don't need to stay in a 2000 room value with double beds.

Fort Wilderness: Why rent a cabin for 6 when we're only 2? Why do WDW in a tent if you don't have to and I'd have to buy one anyway 'cause I haven't owned a tent since 1977? RV? I'd have to rent one.

Have stayed at all other Disney hotels including Swan and Dolphin.

When it comes to DVC we've only stayed at OKW.
SSR doesn't interest me very much and those are the only free standing DVC properties. Beach, AK, WL, and Boardwalk are in separate wings of deluxe resorts I've stayed in, so I contend that I've stayed at them.

The beds at the Values, Mods, and Swan/Dolphin aren't twin beds they're full size beds...Trust me you'd never get more than one person in the bed if they were twins. I also think the Dolphins are oversized full beds (bigger than a true full but smaller than a queen size bed)

Check with ddoll, but I believe the Swan has queens while Dolphin has doubles.

Re: Which resorts have you NOT stayed at, and why?

Contemporary...didn't like it pre-rehab...not wanting to go now that it's still in mid-rehab...not sure how I"d feel when all construction there is done. Oh, also didn't like the pool.

AKL...I was debating between here and WL....since we love MK, WL won. AKL really far from most parks...not sure how I"d feel about that. Will be visiting for Boma so may try this resort in future.

The Mods...I have this strange feeling about them...if I want to save money, I'd rather stay at Pop, if I want to splurge $50-75 more I'd go with WL or AKL. The ones I'd be willing to stay at are POFQ or CSR...I like that POFQ is close to DTD and CSR is a good theme, although I had the convention aspect. Heard bad things about CBR and POR very big.

ASSports...one word...cheerleaders...'nuf said.

ASMusic...not crazy about the theme

ASMovies...of all the AS resorts, this is the one I'd try...I love Buzz Lightyear. But I'd take Pop above all the AS resorts b/c of busses.

Swan....I've stayed at the Dolphin once...once was enough and don't want to try the Swan.

DVC...too much of a temptation to buy

I used to feel the same way and I am starting to really change my mind. It's my "home resort" for DVC and I used to be SO bummed that I didn't wait for AKL Villas but we've stayed at SSR 3 times now and I am really starting to like it. The boat rides to DtD are gorgeous & convenient, there is actually more of a "Disney feel" than I ever gave it credit for, and the food there is GOOD! Still no "grand lobby" though and that TOTALLY bums me out!

Re: Which resorts have you NOT stayed at, and why?

I've only stayed at POP and AS Sports due to $$$$

Did try to get WL, but it was booked for free dining (except the club rooms)

If I had my choice, I would love to stay at Contemporary or Poly due to being on the monorail. That would be so cool to be just a walk (from Contemporary to MK) or a ride away from MK and Epcot.

Grand Floridian is not quite my style either.

Re: Which resorts have you NOT stayed at, and why?

There are too many I haven't stayed at!

Floridian: I'm with you Wishy - not my style either. Too stuffy.

Poly: I think its awesome, and I love it! But for some reason it feels a bit cold to me, so its never pushed past the "maybe" stage for me.

Boardwalk: Just haven't got to it yet!

Caribbean Beach: Preferred the other moderates' themes

AS Sports & Music: Only stayed at the values twice, once at AS Movies, once at POP. Just didn't dig the values, so haven't gone back a 3rd or 4th time.

As for Disneyland, I haven't been yet, but when I go I plan to stay at the Grand Californian. Disneyland Hotel and Paradise Pier don't really seem my style.
