Coronado Springs any feedback?

We are officially booked at Coronodo Springs. It will be our first tme there. Did we make a good choice we passed on free dinning for it. The free dinning only had the cabins or boardwalk avalable. It works out cheaper going to a mod and paying for meals alacart. We need to cut back a little we are trying to make it twice this year.

Re: Coronado Springs any feedback?

If it will save you money so you can come back- then it is perfect!! The only complaint I had is that it is HUGE!!! The big pool was soooo far away from our room I thought I was going to go into labor. It didn't help that I was 36 weeks pregnant either. The do have golfcarts that go around the main walkway and can pick you up to take you to the pool or food area. All the mods are the same to me room wise. They have a great food court if you like Mexican. I have never done the Dining Plan so I don't know how great it is.

Either way have fun!! To me, a hotel room is just a place to sleep- there is so much to do at Disney- who needs a fancy room!!

Re: Coronado Springs any feedback?

I am not into desert type things (I like tropical stuff) but the Coronado Springs has grown on me. On the moderates I think it now comes in second place to the French Quarter.

As other have said, it is a big resort, but whenever we stayed we have gotten rooms near the main building and close to the short cut bridges to the main pool. I believe they do run carts around to transport guests, and I think I have seen bell services offering rides on their carts when they were returning to the main building.

If you are planning going to the AK and or blizzard beach, it is very convient to both of these places.

I also like the Pepper market as it offers a great variety of food. If one of your party is interested in Italian but another is interested in Asian, then you don't have compromise on a restaurant to eat at. The Pepper Market has both.

Re: Coronado Springs any feedback?

One negative thing I've heard about it is that it is a convention hotel. Which means, your family could be surrounded by people escaping their families for a few days--One person reported a trip with crude language and heavy drinking around the resort.

We stayed there for the first time last year & we are booked again for this year. It is a beautiful resort. My kids & DH loved it. It is large so you may want to request being near the main building if the food court & restaurant are important to you.

The main pool is very nice and is located away from the main check in building. There also is a gym. We had no issues with any conventions or the amount of people. There are carts that take you around the resort and about 4 stops on the buses. The buses were always coming & going, we never had too long of a wait.

Re: Coronado Springs any feedback?

I've stayed there once and I thought that it was a beautiful resort. So long as you ask for a preferred room location you should not have any issues with the distance between your room and the main building. During our stay we did not have any issues with conventioneers. The only complaint I had was the Pepper Market. Don't get me wrong, the food was very good. It was just that for some reason if you ate in the PM you were charged an additional 10% service charge but if you got your food to go then it was waived. Not really sure why but 10% here and 10% there adds to a souvenir t-shirt and coffee mug !!

Re: Coronado Springs any feedback?

Back in March when they LOST MY RESERVATION for Sports, we were upgraded to CSR!

We d it! I had stayed once before with my family at Xmas time . . . and we liked it then too!

It is BIG, but the grounds are so nice, we didn't mind the walk to and from the Pepper Market. There are also golf cart stops if you can walk and they will drive you to where you need to be. We never really eat at our resort anyway . . . we either grab a snack in the room or head out to an ADR!

There was a convention there, but they seemed to group them all together. The people staying around us were all families!

The pool area was great . . . with a play area for the kids, a nice pool and slide . . . we really enjoyed it! And I would go back again!

Re: Coronado Springs any feedback?

This resort is actually physically SMALLER than CBR or POR (also moderates), just wanted to say that.

Re: Coronado Springs any feedback?

It's a beautiful resort! And very large. We stayed at Pop our first time and CSR the second time. DS liked Pop better because, as he said, "Pop has more stuff that kids like" so we went back to Pop the third trip. There were no conventions going on at the time we were there. Not sure how that would be. But it is beautiful!

The pepper tink food court.

The charge a gratuity and it looks like there meals are 2 to 3 dollars higher than other food courts. Is this true?

I remember the kid's meals were pretty much the same prices as other places. The gratuity thing was changed after we were there so we didn't deal with paying gratuity before we were even served. That would have bothered me, given that you bring your own food to the table. The servers clean the tables and bring beverages if you want them to. We usually got our own beverages, too. We certainly left a tip if a server provided a service to us!
There's quite a variety of food choices. Some of the food was very good, some was mediocre at best. I really don't remember the prices being that different from other places. That might have changed, too.

If you get your food to go you can bypass the gratuity.

Re: Coronado Springs any feedback?

I was just a little shocked on why this food court was different from others. we will pay what ever we are on vacation. I am sure it will make for a good trip report.

Re: Coronado Springs any feedback?

CSR is our family's favourite resort, and we have visited a few others. We love the beautiful grounds and often walk around them in the evening after a crazy busy day at the parks. We usually end up in the Casitas, which we like because they are convenient for the laundry/gymn/salon facilities and they have their own quiet pool (one of 3 quiet pools). There are also bus stops around the resort, and bus stop #2 often loads up/drops off first for the parks.

As far as food goes, we enjoy snacking by the pool if we swim late in the day; good value there for burgers, nachos, fruit, wraps, etc. Because it is a convention centre we find the pool area to be comparatively quiet during the day while people are in meetings. We have also been part of a convention group and they were super nice people, not a bad lot considering we were there to attend a brewing related conference! The Maya grill serves surprisingly good quality food, and the Pepper Market isn't bad at all. We find the meals to be rather large, so we split them and it works out well in regards to cost.

We are headed to CSR in about 6 weeks and we can hardly wait!
