Good decision. We love FQ. The theming is so nice and the serpent pool keeps the kids busy for hours.

Re: Switched to Port Orleans.

Glad to hear you are happy and settled in your arrangements. I am sure with the not-so-good reviews you were hearing about CS, it takes a lot off your mind to know you will be somewhere that already feels like home.

I feel the EXACT same way. It is such a special feeling getting off the Magical Express at the entrance and walking in that lobby for the first time every trip! We stayed at the Beach Club on our last trip and I loved, loved it, but it wasn't quite the home feeling I get at POR!

Re: Switched to Port Orleans.

AAA got us a good deal at the Riverside for August 13-16th. It would never have been my pick, but we are a family of 5, so that is the cheapest one that would accomodate us. We LOVED the CSR in '06. Now reading about people suggesting a rehab for the Riverside, I wonder if it's okay to stay at. We have all boys (15, 12 and 4) and it seems like it is females who rave about it? I didn't care for it looking at the pictures, the only thing I thought they would like is the FQ pool and the fishing...

POR has the largest resort arcade, a catch and release fishing pond, a great playground, nice pool, and the little boats you can rent are a blast! As far as the referb goes, yes the rooms need some work, but this doesn't seem to keep people away. We've never had a service problem there and the food court is nice. It was redone a couple of years ago, so I'm guessing the rooms aren't too far behind. Call and request building 14. It's the closest to everything. I'm sure your boys will enjoy it .

Oops, I meant referb, not rehab! Looks like you have plenty of experience at POR! thanks for the great info, I'll see what I can do about requesting the building. I guess I just like more of a obvious theme, but I'm willing to give it a try.
We are breaking up our trip into 4 hotel stays--four days at Tampa, 3 days at Universal area, 3 days at POR, then the last 4 days are just me and two of our boys (my DH and 15 yr old DS have to go back home early) at the ASM using a bounceback deal.

We stayed there in December of 07 and really didn't see a resort that's run down and in need of a rehab. Our room was in good shape and the grounds were beautiful. My 9 year old liked the pool and resort in general. It was a quick trip, maybe 5 days, so we didn't spend a lot of time at the resort but it seemed fine to us. That said, we didn't fall in love the resort but it wasn't because it was run down.
