Poly or Grand

We are officially booked for our August trip. We are staying at the Polynesian Resort from Aug 14-Aug 17th, requested Samoa building. We are thinking of going to Ohana's dinner buffet or Kona Cafe the first night. Probably Kona's for breakfest Aug 15th. Not sure of our meal plans for the rest of the weekend.

Magical Journeys is keeping an eye out for rates at the Grand Floridian. Originally we were going to pay $975 for 3 nights (AAA Disct) at Poly. Then Magical J got us a passholder rate for $874 for 3 nights. If somehow we got the chance to stay at the Grand for $975 or less we would consider changing.

If you had to pick, would it be Poly or Grand ?? And why???

I would pick the GF but only because the Poly doesn't interest me, too 70's looking for me.

Poly, it's not as fancy as GF but it has a great pool, and stays true to the theme in every detail. Plus, Lilo and Stitch are so adorable :D

I would choose GF; it's a beautiful resort, has a great lobby (I love listening to the band) and you can still make reservations to eat at the Poly (I love Kona ^.^)

I have to echo what DisneyTeacher said. I would definitely pick GF, it's so beautiful and old fashioned

If I ever had to choose between the 2 it would definitely be GF! It is a beautiful resort- I wandered around there our last trip while my 2 DS did the pirate adventure- it is so peacuful and relaxing- it is what I imagine a vacation to be! Both of my sons asked on our next trip "can we stay at the fancy white hotel?"

I would choose GF. Until my last visit, I hadn't spent much time there, and I it really grew on me. Of course, I do like the Poly as well. No matter what resort you go with, I'm sure you will enjoy it.

If you are bringing kids, I think the Polynesian would be more fun. If you are not bringing kids, Grand Floridian all the way!!

I'm a Polynesian groupie. Its beautiful inside and out. The rooms are big, gorgeous, and quite updated. The grounds are just spectacular. I like the GF, but the Polynesian has my heart.

Havnt stayed at either but I think the GF looks a little too posh for me to b wandering through all hot an sweaty from a day at the parks! Really nice place to eat and wander around sans the sweat. POly looks super nice, Id feel a little comfier there but everyone is different! If you have stayed at one and not the other though, Id pick the one you havnt stayed at, change is always nice and exciting!

I'd have to say The Poly!! I have never stayed at either one..but the Poly has a special place in my hula heart

It comes down to cost. Poly is already pretty pricey and GF is even more than that. If your budget allows, yes. If not, stick to the Poly. The rooms were all redone in 2005 and are very much up to date, including LG 32 inch LCD HDTVs.

they are both great and you could not go wrong with either one. personally i like the bc the best. We go back to the gf this fall for the first time in about 6 years so we are realy looking foreward to it,

Having stayed at both, I would say you can't go wrong with either. If you have been to the Poly before, then I would stay t GF.
