Best way to get from Poly to Boardwalk

We are considering going to The Riverside Grill for either lunch or dinner the first day we are at WDW. It is our no-park day so I thought it might be fun to bring DS to the Boardwalk. I usually can figure out the best route to take but I am not sure in this case. What do you thinK???

Also, we have never been to the Boardwalk...are there games and flame swallowers and that kind of stuff going on or is it strictly restaurants and bars? How is the good at the Riverside Grill (if that is the name of it).???

Thanks !

Do you mean Big River Grill because I haven't heard of Riverside Grill?

Re: Best way to get from Poly to Boardwalk

Walk to TTC (it adjoins POLY) and take bus from there or ride monorail to MK then bus.

Re: Best way to get from Poly to Boardwalk

Big River Grill has wonderful food - try the meatloaf.

The Boardwalk comes alive at night - through the day there are no entertainers. In the evening there will be street entertainment - jugglers, magicians, etc. During the day it's pretty quiet. And yes, it's basically bars, shops, restaurants.

I'd take the monorail to the MK and catch a bus to the Boardwalk.

Re: Best way to get from Poly to Boardwalk

We tried Big River last summer and really liked it. I had pasta and Mike had salmon and we were both happy with our dinner. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat there if we had other plans for the evening but if you are already in the area it's a good choice. We had the best service of our trip that night, our server was really good.

Re: Best way to get from Poly to Boardwalk

I agree with the walk to the TTC and bus to Boardwalk. We used this option several times last summer to go to the Studios or AK because these buses are direct, no stopping at other resorts. It's only a three or four minute walk to the TTC from the front door of the Poly. This is what makes it the best resort in terms of transportation options.

We enjoyed the Big River Grill. food was good, and it is a micro-brewery with some nice beers. At night on the BW, there are little acts. juggler, brass band type of things. They do not perform for long. There are a couple of arcade type games there also (basketball toss and not sure of the others) it is a fun and relaxing time. you can also rent surrey bikes there and ride around the lake to the Y&B and back.

Another route which is nice is Bus from Poly to H Studios, then the resort walk along the canal to BW. A little longer than the TTC route, but a nice senic stroll.

Big River Grille has excellent food and it is a brew house so they have an assortment of homemade beers. It’s nice to eat outside on the boardwalk and people watch if it isn’t too hot. If you are taking Disney transportation I would go to TTC and then catch a bus from there. The easiest way is to of course drive; you’d be there in no time and parking is free.

I like to take the bus to The Disney Studio then the boat from the Studios to Boardwalk. It take a little longer but it so much fun.

We discovered it when we stayed a BWV. We had a night of pouring rain - and were so tired, we ordered for pick-up from their menu and we were so surprised at how delicious the food was. We've been back to the restaurant several times now. (the portions are HUGE though).

Sounds fantastic
I am thinking that sharing then might be the way to go. Most importantly though, the beer. Mike would love a "real" beer

That's how we tried it for the first time. We were at BWV and staying in one evening, it was pouring so we wandered over and had a good meal. We had always wanted to try it but never seemed to fit it in.
