deluxe bus service

For those of you that have stayed at a deluxe hotel, do you think that the bus service is better than the moderates?

We have always had good service from the moderates until this last trip... It seemed like we either had bad timing, or we were going at a time when spring breakers were coming... It seemed like they came a week early last year, and it was more crowded than Disney buses were planning for. We waited forever every day...

Trying to talk the hubby into a change-

Thanks for your help!

Re: deluxe bus service

I think it's hit or miss at all the resorts and you can have good and bad service at all the resorts. We usually have good service but we're usually not in a hurry so a 10 minute wait doesn't bother anyone in my family.

Re: deluxe bus service

We have always stayed at the Deluxes and I can only remember once where we waited for buses for a long time. It was from when we stayed at the Poly, we waited for a DTD bus for quite some time, and we just gave up on it and back to the pool!

Re: deluxe bus service

we don't mind that either, but last year we waited about 30 minuted to an hour every time we left the park (not during opening or closing-just random times during the day). Also, there were 400 million people in line at our hotel, and no one in any other line, and bus after bus passed us up. On night at Epcot (about 7pm), we waited an hour, and then it took 4 buses for us to get on a very, very packed bus back to port orleans french quarter. It is a small hotel, so I would not have thought that 300 people would be returning there from one park. Overall, this trip was the norm last spring for us. We have been this same week for the past three years, and this was the first time that they seemed so bad...

Re: deluxe bus service

I've had better service at CSR (maybe because it's a convention resort) than at AKL.
But it's hit or miss, sometimes you walk to the bus stop and there comes the bus you want and sometimes you get there and you just missed the bus you wanted.

Re: deluxe bus service

Most of the deluxes will share a bus with one other except for AKL. For this reason, we really like the transportation options at the Poly. You are a short walk from the TTC which has express buses to DHS and AK and the Epcot monorail. No sharing and no longer of a wait than back at the resort. I can't remember if you can catch a bus to DTD from there or not.

Re: deluxe bus service

thanks for the poly tip... I forgot about the TTC being so close, and did not know about the express buses... I will add that to my arsenal...

Re: deluxe bus service

I think it is the luck of the draw. Many times I see lots and lots of value buses picking up from the parks, while I waited 30 minutes for a bus going to the GF.

Re: deluxe bus service

I've not had the fortune to stay at a Deluxe (yet!), but I've been happy with POR, although I know of people who didn't think their bus service was very good at all. I think it depends on so many things, it can be a tough call.

We did take a bus from the Poly one night to DTD (after eating at Chef Mickey's, we took the monorail to the Poly, then had to get to DTD to get a bus back to POR - I think it was late and busses weren't running for the MK? or probably just bad planning!) and the bus was PACKED! And it still stopped at another resort to pick up people!

Re: deluxe bus service

I think it's a random thing, too. I've had great service from many resorts and really the only 'bad' experience is super crowded buses and that can be at any resort, right?

Re: deluxe bus service

I have to be totally honest here and say no. I have stayed at AKL, WL and the Polynesian and must admitt that the bus service was the worse at the Polynesian and WL...AKL was awesome, but I think the "no sharing" helped. The moderates and values do a much better job with their transportation in my opinion.

Re: deluxe bus service

I think the busses are all hit or miss. We have had great luck in any of the resorts we stayed at. The Poly was the best though and the CBR the worst as there were more stops the bus had to make

Re: deluxe bus service

This isn't so much timing of buses, but the few times I've gone to a deluxe for a meal, I was surprised that they would share with other resorts. I think when we stayed at VWL and was heading to DTD we stopped all over the place. I think we stopped at FW, GF and one of the water parks. It seemed it took close to an hour to get from WL to DTD. Before we joined DVC, we also stayed at values and it seemed we went from the parks, right to the hotel. I know the reason for that is, the values buses are filled but if I was paying 4-5 times the price for a room they would have better transportation.

I agree with Dana. The worst bus service we ever had was at WL. Wait times were always long, especially when leaving the resort to go to the parks.

We are prepared at park closing for long waits for the buses, so we usually linger in the shops for the crowds to die down.

I also think timing is everything. Depends on the time of day, the park you are going to, etc.

Re: deluxe bus service

Just got back from GF stay. The only thing that bothered me was waiting in the heat. But then again we were the ones that went to WDW in July!!!!!!! Stayed at the All Star in '05 and the service was the same.
