Splitting our Stay

We are in the planning stages for Thanksgiving 2009. We will be booking a 2 BR at the BCV (our home resort) so that Grammie and Grandpop can come along next year. Points will be tough, so we want to split the stay with a moderate resort. We've stayed at POFQ and we loved the pool and the atmosphere.

My questions:

1. Do we arrive and spend a couple nights in a hotel before transferring to our "Florida home" (as the kids call it) at the BCV, OR do we add a couple days at the tail end??

2. Thoughts as to where?? We liked POFQ, but we are open to trying something else.

Re: Splitting our Stay

I think you should start off at POFQ and end your trip at your "home". You will have more things "snacks and stuff" in the two bedroom and it won't be so easy storing all that at POFQ. Out of the mods, POFQ suits me best. I find the other ones to be to large for my taste.

Re: Splitting our Stay

I would do the hotel first then DVC. First of all, to me it seems like moving from POFQ to BCV would feel like moving up to a better grade room. Second, the first few days you'll be running around with the kids, and just as the trip maybe be slowing down a bit, grammie and grandpop show up. Just in time for a quiet meal for you, since you will now have babysitters.

Re: Splitting our Stay

Like the other posters I would do the regular resort first and move over to BCV for the second part of the trip. I think I would rather go from a smaller room to a bigger room and a moderate to a deluxe---move up and bigger.

I am going to pile on too. I think the Resort first, then relocate to home. You probably don't have to unpack as much for just a couple of nights and then can spread out and settle in for the remainder of the vacation at BCV.

Re: Splitting our Stay

When we split our stay we pack bags for the first part of the trip and bags for the second part so we don't have to unpack everything before we move. If it's only a couple of nights I pack a small bag with 2-3 changes of clothes for everyone and larger bags for the main part of our trip. It makes moving so much easier.
