We are going the exact same dates in December! Have been there before at this time of year, and it is great! Decorations are worth the trip alone. Save some money and go early.

From my experience, Disney is not that bad in Dec. It is only crazy the week of Christmas, but prior to Christmas....it is a decent time to go. Heck my family will be there from the 12th-14th.

I am jealous! That is when I would love to go but with the kids school schedule it just didn't work out. I have heard that the crowds are low. I believe they are filming the Xmas parade the week before you get there.

So, how is ASM compared to the other values - rooms, style ect? Any thoughts/tips?
We stayed at Movies and liked it!

Thanks everyone, the changing plans on the fly makes me nervous~ I'm a Virgo and I am an intense planner so double trouble! I guess fiscally conservative wins this battle. Now I can just start re-vamping the plan LOL!

I think that would be a pretty low-crowd week, even though you might run into pockets of crowding every now and then. I'd go for it!

And isn't that when they film the Christmas parade? If it is, you could ham it up for the TV cameras, then see yourselves on Christmas morning! LOL

So, it turns out it really will be mother/daughter only trip as the other two cannot make it. Which isn't a totally bad thing either. This way we each have our own bed and space.

I realized we can't actually eat $500 of Mickey bars ROFL. But, is it worth it to try AKL or another resort for the last night? We have never been anywhere other than ASMo and CBR. Or, would you splurge on a Cirque show, HDDR or Luau experience?

I would like one special event for us to go to.

First i want to say that I think it is awesome you decided to go in Dec.

I think thatyou should splurge on a special experience. I think you should experience AKL with your family and not for just one night if possible. I think a Luau or Cirque would leave a far better memory than one night at a hotel.

Justmy opinion.

I agree with lisalovesmickey. AKL is too special an experience to rush. Wait until you have more time there.

For a special experience.... wow there are so many!!! One that hasn't been mentioned is the Hoop-De-Doo Review. Kids especially seem to love it. It's at Fort Wilderness Campground and it's a lot of fun. Good food and a great cowboy saloon show.

I would choose La Nouba for your "special" thingy!! It is an AWESOME show. We also love the Hoop Dee Do!! We didn't like the Luau (but that was about 10 years ago - maybe it's better now).

Can't wait to hear more of your plans!
