Bus Services At All-Star Resorts

Okay, so in my past vacation we stayed at ASMo and the bus system was terribbleeee. Like seriously. From the parks AND from the resort.

I was just wondering if it's always like this. Or if it was that time of year? I understand that the bus systems sucked for everyone a little leaving from the parks because of the shut down of the bridge for repair.

Anyone else able to shed some light on this?

To tell you the truth, we have never had horrible bus service from any of the resorts from Value to Deluxe. I think it is totally the luck of the draw.

Re: Bus Services At All-Star Resorts

We did ASMo in January and it was not that bad. We had our own bus to the parks and shared a bus back with the other All Stars. We are not big fans of using the bus, but we have used them in the past. Other than MK, we take our car.

Re: Bus Services At All-Star Resorts

Thanks everyone! Well, usually the Disney bus system is a GODSEND! When we stay at Pop is sooo quick and convient, and after we leave the parks, the wait to get home is never that bad, especially for MK which is normally a mobscene. I was just wondering if its the resorts buses that are usually that bad, or if it was just pure bad luck, and to me it sounds like luck.

But I couldn't figure out why those resorts, specifically would be bad.

Re: Bus Services At All-Star Resorts

I think it is sort of luck of the draw as well. You have to figure though with the cost of gas Disney is running absolutely as few busses as possible. I have stayed at All-Star Sports twice (once off season and once peak) and never had a complaint about the busses. Yes, there were long lines coming out of the parks at night, but it seemed like as soon as one bus left another was pulling up.

That is very true. I do agree on that! But it seems like it was taking a lot for that first bus to start the chain reaction. I wonder if it was like that for all the resorts. And also, the buses that were coming to the resort to take us to the parks, it was a LONG time for those buses to actual come. And it seemed like all the buses were for MK and then there was one bus HS and one for EPCOT and one for DAK.

It was unusual for Disney. Thats why I was wondering if the resort was always like that or if it was just bad luck. haha.

Re: Bus Services At All-Star Resorts

What I have noticed when waiting for buses from parks back to any hotel is this: there are usually 2 and 3 buses for every resort, but yours. There also seem to be many "phantom" buses that just roll around the bus stations dark, and never stop. Sometimes, if you're lucky, your bus is waiting for you at the stop and sometimes you won't wait more than 5 minutes. But on average and factoring the laws of relativity and of Murphy, yours will be the last bus to arrive.

I use the WDW transportation every trip and must say that my experiences have been more positive than negative. you are always going to get random rude people everywhere you go in this world. This is not just at WDW...People have always offered seats to those who need it when I have been on a bus and I am not shy, so I have no isssue in telling a younger person to get up for a lady with a child. Sometimes people need to be embarrassed into having manners and I don't care how they have them as long as they do..lol

It's true; rude people are everywhere, but what really gets me is people skipping everyone else in line. I have stood in line for a bus (particularly at park closing) for a long time with a few hundred other people when someone in a wheelchair pulls to the front of the line and is immediatley boarded along with the other 6 people in their group. Now I have absolutley no problem with those with disabilities having priority seating and I will gladly stand. What I don't like is for them to automatically skip to the front without waiting in a line at all. My sister has rheumatiod arthritis and has trouble walking sometimes, but she waits in lines like everyone else. Ok well that was my rant for the day. I am really not mean and I will go out of my way to help people. I would just like to see everyone have manners and be polite even when they are tired!

Re: Bus Services At All-Star Resorts

I almost always give up my seat to those older than me (that's pretty funny now that I'm 53!), children, and mothers. The exceptions are when I'm completely wiped out or if I'm at the opposite end of the bus from the person who needs room made for them. Standing isn't an issue for me. I learned commuting when I was a child in NYC, so I'm an experienced strap hanger on buses and trains.

Ah, I always ahve bad bus luck.... no matter what resort. It's a little more hectic during school breaks. However, I hate waiting, so if I have to wait for a bus for more than 5 minutes, I get frustrated.

Re: Bus Services At All-Star Resorts

do you know the saying " a watched kettle never boils" ?

I think this is kind of the same for waiting for the bus- every bus comes apart from yours, also when your waiting at the resort to go to the park same happens- all the park buses come and yours is the last

I never had any major problems with transport to or from All Star resorts never waited more than 5/7 Min's for a bus

Re: Bus Services At All-Star Resorts

I stayed at ASMo last week, went to the Halloween Party and had no trouble at all with the buses. At the end of the party they had two loading at the same time just for ASMo. I hope your experience was just a bad day, and you have better luck next time.
