Wilderness Lodge vs. POR - Help?

I am taking my DD5 Nov. 30-Dec.7. We are currently booked at POR (Alligator Bayou requested room). I could switch to WL, courtyard view. We are planning 1 day at AK, 1 day at HS, 1.5 days at Epcot and remainder at MK. Most of our dining is in parks or on monorail. I don't expect us to spend much time at the hotel or using the pool unless we get lucky with some warm weather. Would you switch?

Thanks for all your thoughts!!

Re: Wilderness Lodge vs. POR - Help?

I liked the Wilderness lodge better. Also, try Fort Wilderness, we loved having a cabin, with an outdoor grill, full kitchen and VERY comfortable beds.

Re: Wilderness Lodge vs. POR - Help?

WL is a deluxe and POR is a moderate. If you can switch up to a deluxe for the same price then go for it. You will be connected to the MK by boat.

There is NO place on the planet where "you get what you pay for" is more true than at WDW. If you can get into a Deluxe, you will definitely have a more luxurious vacation.

Re: Wilderness Lodge vs. POR - Help?

You'll kick yourself if you don't switch to WL. It's fully decorated for Christmas during the time you'll be there. That and there is no comparison between POR and WL.
That's all I have to say for now. Time to leave for WDW and a week at WL.

Re: Wilderness Lodge vs. POR - Help?

I adore POR and always will. We always stay there due to funds and will do for the forseeable future too. However I also love WL and if I had the opportunity to stay there over POR I would grab it with both arms and my legs and cuddle it to death!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Do it!

I say if you can afford it, go for it! It its going to make your budget very tight I might save the extra money to spend on photos or other trip momentos.

Re: Wilderness Lodge vs. POR - Help?

If they are going to give you WL for the same price as POR, you would be nuts not to do it. WL is just so beautiful, and at the holidays, it is just awesome!

Re: Wilderness Lodge vs. POR - Help?

To be honest I have stayed at POR before and didnt like it. I would switch but I have never stayed at WL either. Perhaps read the reviews on all ears.

Re: Wilderness Lodge vs. POR - Help?

It will cost more but when I booked, WL was not available and it was my first choice. Now it is available, hence the dilemma.

Re: Wilderness Lodge vs. POR - Help?

We are at the POR from 12/6 to 12/9 then we are moving to the WL for 5 days. We have stayed at the WL before and love it, especially at Christmas. I look forward to staying at the POR since I have heard many good things about the resort. QUESTION: Why do you prefer Alligator Bayou over Magnolia Bend? I was goint to request Magnolia Bend/Oak Manor and was just curious why you selected the Bayou.

Re: Wilderness Lodge vs. POR - Help?

WL is probably one of the prettiest resorts, ever.

There is NO comparing walking into THAT resort with ANY OTHER resort. It's breathtaking.

If I could do EITHER ONE, I'd pick WL.

You're going to have a magical experience at either place, but you're definitely going to experience MORE magic at WL.

Re: Wilderness Lodge vs. POR - Help?

Stayed at both resorts. Now POR is well themed, but if I had a shot at WL court yard view, I would go for it. Even though you don't plan to be much at the resort; It is still all part of the experience. So go for the gusto. Wish it were me
