I have to agree with some of you regarding a comment made about the ALK being referred to as "crap". Obviously, as unique individuals we are entitled to having our own opinions...however, I do not think it is necessary to call the AKL crap either.....
and at the same time I am able to respect an individual's opinion as far as being more comfortable at one hotel vs another.....

We've stayed at AKL and loved it. We've visited WL and thought it was stunning. Both are some of the best "crap" we've ever seen.;)

We have also stayed at both, though neither can be classified as "crap" Wilderness Lodge gets our vote. We honeymooned there, and is just a great place. AKL is cool, but seems like a bit more walking...but exciting.

Wilderness lodge is real close to Ft Wilderness, and that means tons of very nifty outdoor fun stuff to do. Also WL is a bit more centrally located. If they ever put WL on the monorail line it would be perfect.

But I hear Disney feels a monorail doesn't exactly fit the theme at WL. So it may never happen. Funny...I don't expect to see many monorail systems in modern day Polonesia either but with Yellowstone's car pollution problem, a monorail may be just the thing to save the real world of National Park environments.

We've stayed at both resorts and found AKL to be better. The WL room was in need of a rehab and the lighting was poor, it may have just been that particular room but that is all I have to go by. AKL room was great, clean, new and spacious. We also liked the food choices at the self serve center at AKL better than WL. Both resorts are beautiful and worth a visit!

Hi Jack!

I vote for WL. We just stayed there and loved it. Not only is it gorgeous, it is a peaceful surrounding. We visited the AKL (have not stayed there) but were not that impressed. It is pretty, but seemed, what's the right word I'm looking for....boring? Probably the wrong word. The view was of grass areas but I noticed all the fences, wires, etc. Don't know about you, but if I wanted to smell animals when I wake up, I'd get a gerbil.

WL is stunning to look at in and out, the location is phenomenal (so much better than AKL...). Amenities such as boating, boat to FW or Contemp or MK I believe are much better at WL. One other thing to note - on every single bus we got on, we were the first stop. First hotel to be picked up (usually then Grand Floridian or FW) in the morning to a park and the first to get dropped off. Made dealing with a stroller, getting a seat much easier.

Last, I think WL is better for kids. We could get shade at the pool (seemed like there was not a lot at AKL pool when we checked it out), Whispering Canyon is a "fun" place for the kids to eat. And we could watch MK fireworks from the dock (or employee parking lot is a good place).

Im totally Biased on this since I've only stayed and seen the AKL on the Inside. But something about the exotic, african theming of AKL make it that much more of a nicer hotel. I'll probably never go to Africa so thisis as close as Im gonna get, but Yellowstone on the other hand is alittle more reasonable! lol. Where else can you wake up to a savanna?
Joe:)

I'd say wilderness lodge. I've stayed there once but i haven't stayed at the AKL. The Wilderness Lodge was great. Disney really did a great job of theming it. Also, the have two hot tubs. One's hot and one's super hot!!

My vote was for the Wilderness Lodge. This just looks like such an "un-Florida" type resort, and since I live in Florida that peaks my interest.

I think the AKL looks outstanding, but the WL really holds more interest for me.

I would not classify any WDW resort as "crap" they are a long way off from that :)
