AKL or Wilderness Lodge

Seeing the two resorts are built around the same way, but with drasticly different themes, I was wondering, which do ya'll like, Animal Kingdom Lodge or Wilderness Lodge. Personally, I enjoyed staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge more than Wilderness Lodge. What do you think?

I voted AKL, although I haven't stayed at the WL yet.
I voted due to the theming.

I vote AKL! Being from the Pacific North West - the themeing for AKL is much more interesting and unique to me.

We've visited both but only stayed at AKL.

I think the animals just put it over the top.:D

Ah, Grammy, it doesn't HAVE to be!

While I haven't stayed at AKL, we did explore the resort as much as we could when we ate at Boma. I thought the resorts were extremely similar - same architect after all - so that it comes down to theme. Wilderness Lodge is just more my cup of tea.

brumcg,

You might be right! MAYBE!!!! :laugh  :)

For our family, it was the obvious choice and we absolutely fell in love with it! We would never consider going to another resort.

The resort is gorgeous, the service is comparable to other five star hotels I've enjoyed (like the Ritz) but the cm's were not so obvious about tips, the restaurants, and then there's the animals! It's more than just seeing the animals. Watching the animals is so serene and peaceful -- especially after the parks all day! There are people on almost every balcony, sometimes getting up during the middle of the night, and you can't hear anyone. They are all in awe of the serenity. It's magic all over again, but another kind of magic! ) :heart :)

So for us, it does have to be AKL!: :)

Hi,

Stayed in WL in 2000, AKL 2001, WL 2002 and am going back to WL again this year, so I guess WL gets my vote.

Cheers.

Ps Both are fantastic.:D

AKL is crap compared to Wilderness Lodge.....IMO. I've stayed at WL but checked out AKL (rooms, restaurants, views, and everything) and definitely wouldn't stay at AKL. WL has better theming, better restaurants, nicer rooms, and a much better overall atmosphere than AKL. It'd have to be WL over AKL any time!

May I ask which resort you stayed at this year? Could you share some of the things that were disappointing to you?

I like to hear both good and bad experiences as I feel as if I can make a more informed decision when I hear from all sides.

Thanks!

Not having stayed at either resort, but having spent alot of time checking them out both in person and on Great Hotels, I think AKL appeals to me more. I'm not much of a woodsy person and I think the African theming is very unique. I hope to have a chance to stay in both someday. They both have their own special feel.

I certainly wouldn't refer to any of the resorts as "crap" however. Maybe one or the other doesn't appeal to the same people. :D

I agree, Anne...I haven't stayed at either, but would love the chance to stay at both one day. They both are unique and look truly amazing. There is no reason for ANYONE to call AKL "CRAP"...
