Do you think Easter is a good time

Planning on going to Disney World for Easter. I'm having mixed feelings, wondering if it is a good idea or not. We have seven people going in all. The children are all of school age. If we do not go for Easter we will wait until school gets out at the end of June. What do you think go at Easter or wait until June?

Re: Do you think Easter is a good time

I'd wait til June if you have the option. Easter/Spring Break is without a doubt one of the busiest times at WDW. June will be a little hotter and the crowds are big in the summer but not as big as Easter crowds. They have been known to close parks to new guest during Easter week because they've reached capacity.

Re: Do you think Easter is a good time

i dont think i'd go that week, but if that was my only choice, i'd consider it with careful planning. we are doing end of may/1st week in june this year (we usually go in sept/oct) so we are preparing for bigger crowds too...

Re: Do you think Easter is a good time

We were there March 21-26 1999, which that year was the week before easter and it was not crowded at all...i was dreading all the spring breakers (since thats what the airplane was filled with) and families for easter but it was surprisingly empty!!
I think june is starting to get into the 'hotter season' in florida and would consider that with the group that you are travelling with (do they have a problem with the heat?)

Re: Do you think Easter is a good time

We went to WDW last Spring Break. We went I think the first day of my ds's spring break week..we were there Thursday night-Monday morning. Friday morning we got lucky and hit MK with early hours. The park was empty...no lines until about 1130am. And even then they were not really horrendous lines. Saturday the parks still were not what I would call crowded. However, sunday was another story.

We have gone to WDW late May/early June and the crowds werent too bad. It was alot warmer out. If you are pool people....then maybe that time frame is better. In March it can still be a little cool out.

Re: Do you think Easter is a good time

For me Spring Break is the best time to go! My church's childrens group usually goes then, and the crowds are not to bad. Plus it cooler than going during the summer. But then again Florida weather is unpredictable, like last week it was in the mid 80's and this morning it was in the mid-40's!!!!!

Re: Do you think Easter is a good time

I'm sorry but I'd rather stick bamboo shoots in my fingernails than go to WDW during Spring Break, when I was younger we used to do it and I always felt like it was such a waste of time because it was SO packed. I would wait until June to be honest. It really depends on the dates in June, I think it can be a toss up.

Re: Do you think Easter is a good time

Well my dates were actually the end of June first week of July. My birthday is in the first week of July. We don't mind heat but we do mind heat and lines together. It is probably a toss up I guess.

Re: Do you think Easter is a good time

Easter week is very busy! We were there Holy Thursday to Easter Sunday in 2003 and then it was time to get out of Dodge! Go early! The parks were empty until 11:00 - 11:30 and then it was hard to even get out of the park.
I would go in early June if possible. We went fot Star Wars Weekend this year and if I was comparing the two--- go June.

Re: Do you think Easter is a good time

We've gone twice during Easter week. We went with knowing full well it was going to be busy and because we expected and planned for it to be busy, we tolerated the crowd and wait very well. Both trips were awesome! The weather was awesome. We've thought about June but the weather scares the beegeebees out of us. I guess I'm in the minority when I say that Easter week isn't such a bad time to go.

Re: Do you think Easter is a good time

Well we went this year, and the best part was that we went 2 days early and got to do the Pirate and Princess Party @ MK. It was a little more crowded than we were used to, but if that's the time you want to go then you can deal with.

However, watch out for the Poh Poh (Police) as we got 3 tickets while there...

Re: Do you think Easter is a good time

Easter time can be a really neat time to go because the resorts have easter egg hunts for kids and the parade is really good too! it was very crowded though. so i think it's kind of like christmas...if you pick a holiday, you can expect longer lines, but there are little extras in the park and at the resort because it's a holiday!

Thats when we are going too! We are excited about Star Wars weekends in June too. I think DHS on the weekends are crowded, but the rest of the parks are better than Easter.

Re: Do you think Easter is a good time

Our next trip is planned at Easter time-2010. We know it will be crazy and it will take careful planning on our part, but we will just go with the flow and enjoy what we can. I think knowing it will be busy will make it easier to deal with. Our first family trip was a spring break trip and it was busy but in all the craziness we had a lot of fun.
