Completely booked?

So here's my dilemma. I want to bring the wife over to Disney for the weekend; Dec 5-7 to be more specific. So I call Disney resorts and she tells me that all resorts (Value, Mod and Deluxe) are booked until Dec. 19th. What is going on? I thought that the week after Thanksgiving was supposed to be pretty low crowds. Does anyone know if there are some conventions or something in town to book all the resorts. Worst comes to worst I'll book off-site hotel.

The secret is out that Christmastime is the best time to go. Now you have to book early!

Re: Completely booked?

I think so..... I tried to get the Boardwalk for Nov 7-11 but could not get it cause it was booked up..... I ended up staying across the water at the Beach Club.

I would say book your reservations the earliest you can so hopefully you can get something.

Re: Completely booked?

I think..and I am almost 99% sure that those dates are the dates of Mousefest. It can get pretty packed during that weekend...but completely booked til the 19th? Every room..I doubt it. I'd call back and ask a different CM.

Re: Completely booked?

I found a website MouseFest 2008 - An International Gathering of Disney Fans at Walt Disney World and on the Disney Cruise Line thats says mousefest 2008 is dec 11-15. If this is correct that would lessen the crowds a bit and I can always stay offsite.

Re: Completely booked?

There are a lot of posrts teams that travel at that time, and also it is a better price than during th eholidays, so it will be very popular in this economy.

Re: Completely booked?

The "low crowd" season at WDW is almost non-existent now. Between conventions and cheerleaders and free-dining, the quiet times are becoming extinct.

Bite your tongue, missy. We need no crowds in late January. I believe my karma is working overtime and it will go in my favor

Oh, great, Dopey. Now you've just told everybody about the ONE low-crowd time. Now we're going to have to SHARE!

Don't worry, karma is working, spells have been cast, Marti has been partaking in some mysterious rituals in the peach tree - all will be well.

Re: Completely booked?

We are going Dec 14th-21st this year because of the fact that we were told that would be the lowest crowd levels of the year. We went at thanksgiving last year and it was CRAZY.....I really hope that it will not be too bad in Dec.

I am right there with you. In the past the first and second weeks of December were the ideal time to visit WDW. But with conventions, school and sport trips, free dining and room discounts -there are no low crowd times anymore.

Re: Completely booked?

The first weekend in December is typically when the Christmas
day parade is filmed. Magic Kingdom will be mobbed that Saturday.
My sister and I have visited specifically to be a part of it for the
last two years (no husbands or kids on this long weekend!)
They also film part of the parade on Friday, which is done @ the
front of the castle. Lots of celebrities are a part of it.
Both days are extremely crowded @ MK. Im sure this is another
reason why its so hard to book a hotel for that weekend.
We actually stay outside the parks in a house which ends up
being cheaper than a moderate resort. That might be your
best bet @ this point, or an offsite hotel.
Good luck :)
