we will be arriving on Dec. 24 and leaving on the 19. What resorts are a don't miss. We know about the parks but not what the do in the resorts. This is our first trip at Christmas time.

Thanks Lou

Re: Christmas Decorations

All of the resorts have special Christmas theming. IMHO the best are the Gingerbread House at the Grand Floridian and the humungous Christmas tree at the Wilderness Lodge. If you have the time, try to stop by the lobby of each of the resorts. They are extra special during the holidays, but even during the rest of the year each is a very special place to visit.

Re: Christmas Decorations

You won't believe the African-themed tree at AKL, and the Boardwalk tree always makes me weep with Christmas joy!

Re: Christmas Decorations

We like all the resorts at Christmas but the gingerbread house at GF and the huge tree at WL were very cool.

Re: Christmas Decorations

I always particpate in the decorating at the Fort Wilderness Campground. We campers decorate our camp sites as much as not more than most people decorate their homes for Christmas. :)

Arrival in 18 days and counting!!!

Re: Christmas Decorations

I personally LOVE the holiday theming at the Wilderness Lodge & Animal Kingdom Lodge. It's SO cozy, even though the lobbys are HUGE & the Christmas trees there are big. They both have a very warm & fuzzy, down home, rustic Christmas vibe. I LOVE IT! You can sit by the fireplace in Wilderness Lodge & the AKL has fire pits also.

Naturally the Grand Floridian is pretty but it's just not my style. We ate Thanksgiving dinner there last year & Christmas decor was pretty but it will always remind me of like my Grandma's bedroom.

We saw that last year. It was so great to see all the campsites decorated. It is it's own community. How cool!

Re: Christmas Decorations

During the holidays we focus on the "special" things, rather than trying to get to all of the rides in all of the parks. Each resort hotel usually has a special themed tree, and decorations to match throughout the public areas of the resort. Each resort also usually has a gingerbread display, not just the GF. And most have "Hidden Mickeys" to search out and enjoy. If it is your first visit, or you are short of time and too many "must see/do" items in the parks, you might book some meals at the resorts rather than in the parks, giving you more time to enjoy all of the holiday decorations. Have fun! If you miss something, that is always a reason to come back!

Re: Christmas Decorations

Yes, I agree. We know we like to go to some of the other resorts to check out their decorations, so we book some of our dining at those resorts. It works out great!
