Re: best rooms at french quater

When I look at the map, I think there's no bad location at POFQ. On another board I read that they really enjoyed building 7 because it's got water on 2 sides of it. So the likelyhood of getting a waterview room is greater. Plus it's close to the main building and busstop. Remember that resort is really snug and small. How can anyone get a bad location.
I am looking at building 7 or 2.

Re: best rooms at french quater

First...All rooms in WDW are non smoking so you are set with that.

Building 7 is the best building IMHO. I love this resort and no matter where your room you will have a great location.

Have fun!

Re: best rooms at french quater

We like for Bldg. 2 and we request the garden view. Not that we're in our rooms that much, but it's what we like. It's very convienent to the main building , bus stop and restaurant. All rooms at WDW are non smoking. Smoking is only allowed in designated areas. Of course, that doesn't mean people always follow the rules!

Re: best rooms at french quater

Hi welcome to MB! never stayed at FQ we usually stay at Port Orleans Riverside, so can't help you there but just wanted to say all Disney rooms whichever resort you are in are non-smoking now- there are designated areas for those who smoke around the property.

Re: best rooms at french quater

From building 2, you just have to cross the mini french quarter cobblestone street to get to the main building... We were stunned at how close it was, and we have stayed there 3 years in a row...We stayed in buildings 4 and 5 (requested water view)... LOVED building 2 and 4 the best. It really is a very small resort. With cobblestone streets, great iron work, very small walkways, streets between buildings, and it backs up to the river that takes you to DTD. you really cannot beat anything there...

Re: best rooms at french quater

Welcome to MB! FQ is so small there really are no bad rooms and all are no-smoking.

We stayed there many years ago and we faced the gardens - I think that the rooms facing the pool would be rather noisy (but don't be confused - the "pool" views and the "water" views are two different things. Water views overlook the Sassagoula River.

Wherever you end up - have fun!

Re: best rooms at french quater

We were in building 3 last year and I found it very convenient for the main building, bus stop, and parking lot.
But don't ask me where the pool was.

This resort is so small and cozy to me, that we do not even have to pay for preferred rooms. I haven't found a bad place to stay in this resort.

We stayed in building 4 several times. It's located right next to the food court.

Re: best rooms at french quater

I like the river view rooms in buildings 1 and two...I really like building one because it's away from the noise and so peaceful...building 2 is cool for it's location..it's close to everything.

Re: best rooms at french quater

POFQ is so pleasantly compact that there's no such thing as a bad room.

At POFQ, there's no such thing as a "preferred" room.

If you want to guarantee yourself a water view, you must reserve and pay extra for it. "Water view" is a separate room category. Requesting a building that happens to have a lot of water view rooms does NOTHING to increase your chances of snagging a free upgrade of a water view room. People who pay extra for it obviously get them before anyone else does.

There is no way to book, and thus guarantee, a view of the river versus a view of the pool. As far as reservations go, they are EXACTLY the same thing ... there is no reservations category for "river view" or for "pool view" ... it's all water view, all of it. You can REQUEST one or the other, but you can't guarantee one or the other.

Re: best rooms at french quater

Before my stay at POFQ, I requested a room close to the food court and bus stop. WHen I was checking-in, I was disappointed at my room assignment, as it was very late at night and I just wanted to get the kids to bed. On the map the front desk CM gave me, the room looked very far from the food court. So off we went into the dark to trudge all the way to our room on the 3rd floor at the far end of Building 2.

Well, I was pleasantly surprised when we got to our door 2 minutes later !!! This room which looked SO FAR AWAY on the map was, in fact, still very close. later in the week, I timed the farthest walk, from the very far end of Building 1 to the doors of the food court ... that "longest walk" took me all of 3 minutes 20 seconds at a normal leisurely pace.

So that's what I mean when I say that the resort is so pleasantly compact.
