Yeah, I think Sticky Tack might be kinda brutal on painted surfaces. We aren't even allowed to use it in our classrooms 'cause it pulls the paint right off. Who knows though.

OH, message center... We decorated a big brown mailing envelope w/ Christmas ribbon & decor. Tied a pen to a string & attached it to the envelope with a small note pad. On the envelope we just wrote in marker "MERRY CHRISTMAS! Please feel free to leave a holiday message." It was SOOOOO exciting to come back to the room each night & read our messages.

Now that I am thinking about it I am questioning my memory about the doors in AKL. I remember them as wood but I wonder if they were just painted to have the EFFECT of wood & were really metal underneith. Hmmm.

Oh, no....about the sticky tack Any other suggestions on what to use? I was going to laminate different Mickey Heads with everyones names on them. I would love some ideas on what to make them stick.

Well if they are metal, I can definitely use the magnet tape and that is safe for the doors.

Hey Wish .... are you SURE that's what they said?

For sticky on paint, how about that poster putty? I wouldn't use it for anything on the heavy side, but for paper it would work well and comes off easily.

We can't use it either. In fact, we can't use ANY tacky/sticky stuff because it can leave a grease spot or pulls the paint off.

What about fun tak . . . that puddy stuff . . . it works GREAT!!

At Xmas time, we stayed at the CSR . . . I bought the window clings and we decorated the window of the room . . . I asked Mousekeeping if we should take it down on our last day and was told NO, leave it for the next people? So we did . . . we left Xmas day . . . so there was still a week left of the holiday.

I think most of the doors are metal for fire reasons?

I've never seen a decorated door but I have seen decorated windows (at the values around Christmas). I always thought it was a cute idea.

I've seen some (pictures) of value windows with lights in them! Window decorating in a deluxe resort would be rather pointless, considering most windows aren't visible to other resort guests. But door decorating... that would work. I've heard of people being told to take their decorations down, though (due to the type of adhesive and/or outrageousness).

I didn't think of that? Deluxes have inside rooms . . . duh!! Well that and I've never stayed at one!

We decorated our room, with our pirate flag and all our mickey ears, and some other large disney plush - and I, too, have seen decorated windows, but no doors.

We have had balloons delivered by the CMs at POP on my son's birthday with a card from STich and Mickey! just by telling the CMs at checkin when his birthday was.

Ever see the Contemporary at Christmas?
It looks like many large apartment buildings with multiple strings of lights on all the floors.
A couple years back, there were several rooms at the Contemporary that had lights up in the beginning of December that still had them on New Year's Day.
I'd be willing to bet that some guests put the lights up at Thanksgiving and then left them behind (on purpose).
I've seen plenty of decorated balconies at AKL, WL, and Poly as well. I'm also sure that the DVC resorts have plenty of balcony decorations too.

I have stayed in Disney many times, mainly B.C.V and A.K.L.Disney does not have a problem with decorating doors as long as you are not doing something that will ruin them.
