Re: Any comments about the All-Star Music Resort?

Stayed at the Music & Movies both and couldn't really tell a difference in quality between the 2 except pools are 100% better at music. If you're staying at Music call reservations and "request" your building. Rooms they can't guarantee but buildings have never been a problem. Do 1 of 2 things, either pay the extra $15 a night for Calypso or else request front side of Jazz Inn if you plan to use dis trans. It's a large resort and a long walk to Melody Hall for food, drinks & bus pickup. We've gotten close to the back of Browadway before and let me tell you, it makes a HUGH difference after a long day in the parks. Sports shares parking lot on the right with music so if you have down time walk over and check that one out too. They're all fun.

Re: Any comments about the All-Star Music Resort?

We stayed at AS Music last year. It was nice and fun, but we stayed in Country Fair which is the farthest away from the lobby as you can get and my DH does not care for country music, so I often got an earful about the music while waiting for the elevator My DS was just almost 2 and we chose to bring our own large stroller and drive to the parks, so it was actually usually convenient for us because we were able to park pretty close. The back pool was quite close, but of course, we chose to hike to the front where the wade pool is located.

Southeast, between and north of Baton Rouge and New Orleans, so I have to worry, worry, worry about hurricanes. Hit by Andrew, Katrina, and Gustav. How about you?

Re: Any comments about the All-Star Music Resort?

NW, S.port/Bossier area. Only been mildly hit by the storms a couple times this far up, but weathered a few typhoons while living on islands in the far east. No way to evac so it was basically grab your ankles and pray! Ran from Hugo (i think) when we lived in SC.

We usually go to the world in Oct or Feb. Been once in June with perfect weather. How bad are the storms in FL in July? Worried about scheduling trip after next in July 10 because of that. 1/2 our party will be at SOG and other 1/2 will be at ASMus unless we can get all 26 at SOG.

July 1 is the start of hurricane season, but I'm pretty sure statistically the "fun" doesn't usually start until mid to late August.

I live in South Florida and also got hit by Andrew and Katrina (and don't kid yourself, Katrina did plenty of damage here too). Also got tagged really bad by Wilma, Jeanne, and Frances. As for Andrew, well, that was a Cat 5 storm when it came on shore the first time and only the tightness of the storm, small eye, and rapid motion saved us from it being a total catastrophe. Well that and the jog it took 20 miles south so that it didn't march right down the center of Miami-Dade County. Were it not for that, Andrew would have made Katrina look like an afternoon thunderstorm.
By the way, Charley's eye went right over WDW.

Is that the storm that's caused the only day in history for WDW to have been closed?

I think there have been other days that WDW closed, at least in part.
We were there the day Wilma came thorough and all the parks were closed at the start of the day. In fact, all WDW transport was shut down until the storm passed and guests were "encouraged" to remain in their rooms. I don't remember which parks opened first after the storm passed, but I'm pretty sure AK did not open until two days after the storm.

Re: Any comments about the All-Star Music Resort?

We loved Music when we took the kids. we were very lucky as the messed our reservation up- we wanted 3 rooms and Disney put tried to put us in music and movies. after complaining the upgraded us all to Calypso free of charge, connecting rooms. the resort is fantastic for kids.

the food hall is good with photos of stars around with milk across the top lip, the kids tried to get milk to stay on their to lip for a photo but we failed.

enjoy your vacation

Ok, then it was Wilma. Couldn't remember. That's a trivia ? somewhere in one of the parks, "What is the only day in WDW history to have been closed?" Of course I thought it was 9/11 but was told I was wrong since they did open that morning for a couple hours. They're were looking for the total black date and apparently there's only 1 in history.

on topic... ASMus is my fav of the allstars. But unless you're using your own wheels definitely call and request a building as close to the front as you can get budget allowing. Will make a big difference, esp if you use food court as well.
