I don't think that would be the norm. Pet friendly rooms are carefully cleaned after a pet has vacated the pemises.

I can see it now, I have taken my toddler back to the resort for a nap and there is a small dog next door barking because his owners left him in an unfamiliar place so they could go to the parks or out to eat.

Even in the deluxe resorts, the walls are so thin I can hear conversations on the other side.

The only way would be a resort that was only for dog owners.
I totally agree with that. There are always a few people who ruin it for the good ones.
I also agree that I really don't want my pets along. What sort of a vacation is that?
People who take their pets on vacation are usually not the kind that have flea infested, dirty, misbehaving dogs. That would not worry me. They bring the most pampered animals on the planet. If disney also would then make a doggy spa, the dog lover's life would be complete.

Re: Pet friendly WDW

We've often said that it might be nice to be able to travel with our little 5 pound maltipoo. I HATE leaving him with family or friends, but when I really think about it, I think he's happier staying with our dog-sitters than he would be if we brought him to WDW with us. I just don't think he'd be happy in a resort room when we were gone out to the parks and such. I will take him to the beach with us, though, because we rent a house for a week, and I only look for pet-friendly houses in my rental searches.

Re: Pet friendly WDW

While I would never be interested in bringing my pet with me on vacation, and the thought of occupying a room that smelled of animals is repulsive to me, I have to admit that I have stayed in the Loew's hotels many times and never had so much as a hint of the animals that must be there. In fact, the few times I have seen pets walking around with guests, I was taken aback because it was such a surprise.

No smell, no noise, no poops on the grounds.

They must be really good with how they deal with them.

But this for me is the key:

A hotel really isn't the best place for a pet, IMHO. It's a strange place, with strange people all around them, and they would have to be crated for long hours, including some air travel time for a lot of guests.

But it will never be me or my pet in that situation, so I really don't care.

Re: Pet friendly WDW

We stayed 10 days at Fort Wilderness in our motorhome in the pet section. It's really no comparison to a pet friendly hotel but I just ask my DW if she would take them if we could and she said "for sure".

We stayed in a swank 5 star hotel in SF for our anniversary (le Meridian) and it turned out to be pet friendly. I don't know where a dog relieves himself around there but I couldn't tell it was pet friendly until I saw a pooch coming out of an elevator.

We don't take our dogs to be boarded, we usually have a house sitter and they tell our pups are always looking out the window, waiting for us to come home.

I think they would rather be in a strange place with us than at home when we are not.

Re: Pet friendly WDW

Even if Daisy weren't a barking maniac, I would still feel so guilty about leaving her behind in the room that I would cut my park visits short each and every day so I could rush back to take her for a walk... it would be a scheduling nightmare, and I wouldn't get a stress-free moment away from her. Blech.

I love her so much, but MOMMY NEEDS A BREAK.

Supposedly that's happening (I posted it somewhere earlier in this thread)!!!! It would be the perfect solution. Even though I'd never need to bring my dogs to WDW I know my MIL, and I am sure many other dog lovers out there, would absolutely LOVE a luxury doggy day care/spa/resort.

No real need to quote you but I just wanted to say your dogs are so cute. I had a Shih Tzu for 18 years and my parents have had several. They are such good dogs and make wonderful pets.

Re: Pet friendly WDW

Most of us have pets including myself, 3 cats, 1 old girl and 2 new kittens, a sister and brother, that we found abandoned at work and have had them de-clawed (front paws only) and fixed, and are now 100% indoor cats just like my old girl.

But, Disney guests are notorious (as seen in other recent threads) of ignoring the rules because "they" are special. For this small reason I would have to say "no way" to pets at the resorts.

Re: Pet friendly WDW

I'm sure if it were a money maker, Disney would do it. My guess is that it gives a competitve advantage to some resorts/hotels (they can charge a bit more for being pet friendly and still have guests), but only because it isn't the norm. Universal and the associated hotels may push that angle to get guests who want to travel with their pets.

Disney apparently doesn't think it would generate enough revenue to cover the costs and make a profit for doing it, or they don't believe the additional guests it might bring in would outweigh the numbers they would lose by allowing pets. I doubt there are enough people who would only go to WDW and stay in a WDW resort if they can bring a pet would be large enough to justify a separate pet friendly resort or pet friendly buildings/floors/wings at the existing resorts.

Thanks so much. We really love them a lot. The black and white one (Mitzy) made the trip from CA to DW in 2005 in the motorhome. She loved it!
